Default A closer Look at your friend "SPEED CAMERA VAN"

Lets say hypothetically you were testing out your new car on your way home and got up to 210 in an 90 zone at night time, and you see a speed van on the opposite side of the road.Lets say you were doing about 140 when you see the van and then brake hard and slow down to about 90 when you get parrallel with it, you see no flash or anything. This is in canberra if it helps.

Do i lose my license? How many points or fine or what happens? Do i get caught?

Im tipping that hypothetically your a goner.
By the time you see them they have generally already got you.
Dunno what they are using in Canberra but I know in NSW they are now using digital that works in low light so there is no flash anymore.

Hypothetically you would have been done at a speed probably higher than 140kmh and they will be around soon to collect your car.

I say this is hypothetically because if you were hypothetically doing 210kmh to start with, you would have automatically hit the nearest tree and been on the news.

Since i didnt see you on the news, it mustnt have happened, so you shouldnt get a ticket for speeding.

LOL
"Officer i was testing the new car to see how it ran in the dark and next thing i know it sped up to 210 on its own!"

"officer i just didnt notice i was doing 120km/h over the limit"

"im sorry it wont happen again"

i wonder which excuse will be used?

hypothetically, when you write these threads, you shouldn't speak first as if the audience were committing the act, then as if you where....

recipe for disaster on AFF.

are we talking about speed check vans?

In canberra they have got the mercedes vito vans with an operator in the back, they are usually parked on the side of the road/median strip. Basically if the back of the van was facing you as approach it I think ur screwed.

These vans can detect you 300-400m away

Basically with the Canberra Vans, if you see them, they have already seen you...

You can call Canberra Connect (Motor Registry) and ask if you have been fined, but you have to wait at least 3 days for the info to be registered...

You could always go with the "floor mat jammed my accelerator" excuse...

Hypothetically, they'd need a personal load to pay the lawyers fees and hypothetically they'll be lucky to sleep in their own bed. They'd would also have to get to know their public transport system very well.

Seeing as this is all hypothetic, this thread hypothetically doesn't exist.

Its not hypothetical if you did it.... Just because you put a big word at the start of your thread doesn't make it any better

That hypothetical person may have lucked out majorly. During the daytime, the windscreens of those vans have full screen sun visors (i.e. no forward-facing camera). If the camera always faces backward, then hypothetically no evidence of the offence may be snapped.

You start your paragraph with “hypothetically” then ask the question, do I lose my licence?

A little advice.

If you ever go to court for ANYTHING, do not represent yourself.

People who take vehicles up to these speeds usually don’t discuss such activities on a public forum. EPIC FAIL.

Smart people who give their vehicle a few revs usually do it well away from populated areas.

Here’s a link for a local branch of people who may be able to help you in the future.

TomXY. Sorry but if you make a statement where "hypothetically" someone is breaking the law, being a total TOOL on public roads, doing that kind of speed...the last thing you need to worry about is copping a fine!!

You should be thanking your lucky stars that no one was hurt in this "Hypothetical" incident.

Annoys me some drivers can be so selfish..!
