I have yet to see anybody make any money out of these underpowered mustangs (loved that one) to get stuff from out the back unfortunately you have to put stuff in the front of them.

I have. I used to work for a racehorse trainer and used to sell the horse manure and people would come and take trailers full of it. Also when we had time used to bag it and sell it buy the bag and they sold like hotcakes to. Even once had a tipper turn up with a front end loader and take 4 truck loads worth.

Hi

Its a filly warmblood x welsh cob. Its our first foal big learning experience baby and mum are doing well.

With our foals we would spend as much time with them when born as we could
It puts an imprint like they do with the mare / mother..
Much, much easier to break in etc.. Lifting its legs and checking its hooves etc
Makes a far better horse latter..

Agree 100%, get in with handling now and stick to good and frequent handling routines. Its the 'imprinting' that makes the great horses that you come across today.

I had a Thoroughbred who had excellent imprinting from a foal and that horse at only 7years old was a complete and utter gentleman. Extremely obedient, well mannered, well trained and very well behaved under saddle.

My next horse will be one Ive purchased at a weanling so I can get all the handling in by the time he's ready for breaking at 3/4yrs.

My son and i were actually midwives at the birth 3 am mind you. The ladies were away at a nag show. So "minnie" has been handled since birth so much so that we we walk into the paddock she runs up to us ready for a play.

I would not recommend anyone sitting on a horse at 18months. At that age their bones and true structure are still developing. Doing this can cause issues such as sway back.

You can however train them to accept being tacked up at 18 months, but I would not recommend sitting anyone on a young horses back until at least 2.5 yrs old.

Yea I wasn't meaning a heavy bastard [like myself lol] ride them but light people can..
Plenty of 2 year old races around...
Mouthing etc can be done without riding them..
Plus a well looked after horse doesn't need breaking in like the westerns / cowboy movies....

Plenty of 2 and 3 year old racers breaking down too.......

Broke my two in as 3 and 5 year olds (5 year old had a hip injury at 4 from altercation between another horse, her and a fence post plus strangles at 3)

Broke the 3 year old in early as he was a arrogant little colt come gelding that needed more experience to train then i had at the time!!

They broke down from racing.. NOT from being broken in..
Much much easier to break in a younger horse...
It's older horses 4,5 year old that get splints etc from racing...
Or over racing...
