G'day all, im in a spot of bother, story is my little brother went up to Sydney looking for work a while ago in his EL, cut the story short his car stopped and now he's back home in vic and his cars still there, said he replaced the coil because it had no spark but still wouldnt fire.
Then got a mobile mechanic around and was told he needs $4grand for a new motor and he wont work on dirt? Anyway im after someone who is close by that can have a look or get it going so he can flie back up and drive it home. Another fella also told me that there is a magnesium drive that drives the oil pump and the dizzy and that might have perished. Apparently only the EL's have this problem. Any help would be much appreciated as he's only a young bloke who has just finished paying it off. Cheers all Dunks.. |

Where abouts is the car in Windsor Dunks?
I can recommend a mechanic that is in Mulgrave (one suburb over) who is very good and I also have a card for a mechanic who comes to you & he will happily diagnose what's wrong and what needs fixing and do it cheaply (this bloke services and looks after my auntie and half brothers cars Send me a message through this forums if you'd like the numbers/details

Pro Automotive in Mulgrave/McGraths Hill would be a shot. Nath the owner knows his ways are the old 6 pots fairly well.
Also Lumbroso in Sth Windsor, speak to Josh he's fairly cluey. |

Our EL XR6 just stopped recently without hint of trouble. No spark so replaced coil. Still no spark so replaced dizzy. Runs like a dream. Module must have failed
You can buy aftermarket dizzy off ebay for $39. yes only $39. Genuine Ford item $6-800. Bugger of a job to get it in though - easier with 2 people
