Default AU demist problem

I purchased my AU1 from my brother in law 12 months ago 64000kms which he bought from new a great well serviced and looked after car but have a problem with the windscreen demist. With the setting on screen demist there is only about 5% air coming through the right screen demist and 95% on the left demist so on a very cold morning it takes a very long time to demist the inside drivers side of the screen (dangerously so)I mentioned it to him and he said that he had never had any problems with this. Now i am wondering about the instrument cluster which i removed to replace the clear plastic cover because i accidently sprayed some Armoural on and wrecked the original one (warning to others)Could i have moved something behind the instrument cluster when i removed and replaced that might have messed with the demist settings.Your help would be greatly appreciated.
