Is this the update that's coming this year?
Doesn't look as though there's much change so it could be faster to get to us.
I doubt they will be taking out the daytime running lights, it's easier and cheaper to make it with them, than try to take them out. Australia/NZ are small markets, and I doubt they will be making changes for us here.
More and more cars are coming out with them, even one of the Commodores have them, so I reckon they will be seen on more and more cars, especially as the lights are becoming legislated more in Europe.

Ford hopes for an world wide the success with the new Focus, and expectations are at a high level for the famous American compact car producer. Also, Ford presents the new C-Max and Grand C-Max at the Geneva Motor Show, alongside two new engines for the Kuga and Mondeo.

Whilst the external changes aren't radical, I understand the all-new engines are big changes with updated diesels and direct-injection petrol engines. The 2.0 litre direct injection petrol engine will be the same engine that is going into the 4 cylinder Falcon so it should radically improve the performance and economy of the petrol Mondeos.

Is this the Mondeo gearbox for the 2.2L Diesel

It's neither a true automatic nor a true manual, but thanks to some clever engineering the twin-clutch gearbox manages to combine nearly all of the positive aspects of both while simultaneously eliminating the negatives. Twin-clutch gearboxes have traditionally found favour in high-performance applications, with their high efficiency, strength and lightning-quick shift times making them perfect for machines like the Bugatti Veyron, Nissan GT-R and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

However, the qualities that make a twin-clutch gearbox so good for performance cars also make perfect sense when applied to more mundane machinery, and Ford have announced that the 2008 Focus and C-MAX people carrier are now available with the quick-shifting 'box, dubbed the "Powershift".

It's essentially the same gearbox that Volvo recently announced would be available on their turbo-diesel models, which comes as no surprise considering Ford's ownership of the Swedish marque. Even the engines are the same, with Ford's Powershift being mated to the same 2-litre turbo-diesel inline four as the Volvo, which is available in either 100kW or 81kW flavour.

Given the pairing of the Powershift gearbox with Ford's turbodiesel motors the emphasis is clearly on fuel economy rather than performance, and it shows: The Focus is capable of an impressive 4.8l/100km when equipped with the Powershift (around 10 per cent less than a regular Focus), while the bigger and heavier C-MAX returns a highly commendable 4.9l/100km. The cut in fuel consumption is largely thanks to the Powershift's low weight and low mechanical drag, which means there's less mass for the engine to lug around and more power to do it with.

Will we see the Powershift become available in Australia soon? It's highly likely, but expect there to be a significant premium for the technology: The UK-spec Focus with the twin-clutch gearbox costs the equivalent of AUD $37,500.

This gearbox will be used in most Fords over the next few years, mainly to improve economy. It will be in next year's 4 cylinder Falcon for example. I'm sure it will be in the facelifted Mondeo this year, but who knows what drivetrain combinations will make to NZ and Oz.

Price of course will be an issue but I'd guess that the current 6-speed auto is also an expensive gearbox as it comes from Japan. But a bigger problem for Ford could be supply initially.

I've seen a road test of the C-MAX with the Ecoboost engine and Powershift box, and they were very impressed - rated the box better than the VW DSG. This drivetrain should make a huge difference to the Mondeo.

The 2010 Mondeo gains the all-new (149kW) 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost SCTi petrol engine and improved Stage V 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engines with outputs of 84kW, 103kW and 120kW available.
Mondeo will also receive Ford’s new Powershift six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission system, available as standard with the 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and optionally on all diesel variants.

Might be pushing it for me then, as my lease is up 4 January. Looks like I'll probably get the MB update that's been talked about. Phoonfan from Ethridge here in Ringwood, said that their is a diesel wagon coming out, and that would suit.
I don't really want to wait another 3 months, could do it last time, as we had two cars, not now though.

Agree 100% with what apstar has just said.

I suspect that the facelift with the upgraded engines (diesel and petrol) and Powershift gearbox will be well worth waiting for. Even if they don't arrive before Dec, you should be able to place an order in advance and get one of the first to arrive. Who knows, we might finally get a Titanium wagon! And if there is a gap between your lease ending and the new car arriving, I'm sure that your dealer would do something for you.

The NEW Ford Mondeo can be driven with three different sorts of petrol: unleaded fuel, liquefied gas and bioethanol E85. A post factory backfitting to liquefied gas, also called autogas or LPG, is available with immediate effect. The Mondeo LPG gets an extra LPG tank with a capacity of nearly 49 litres (5-door) respectively 40 litres (Station Wagon) in addition to the normal 70 l tank. The combination of the fuels makes a total range of more than 1000 km possible.
