Typical apple product , just like my iphone, whose touch screen only works on alternate Sundays if Venus and the moon are at right angles with the sun and mars

Try pressing both buttons (for want of a better description) at once for about 15 seconds to power off and then wait a minute and re-start as per normal. I have a Touch but I assume this will work for Nano too. Same problem afflicts mine from time to time but this always works.

This is a handy site http://www.command-tab.com/2006/03/3...ipod-commands/
Ring Apples support number, they are brilliant. I thought I killed my classic once and they talked me through the fix. And didnt have to wait hours on hold either

Before Redxms advice unplug it hit the middle button, & the menu at the same time for about 10 seconds to do a soft reset. You'll know if it's worked when the screen goes blank. You can restore it through itunes if you want, &/or go with redxm. Ring apple. Theyre great.
