Default AU2 Ghia Diff. Is it a 3.45 LSD?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if an AU2 Ghia VCT 6 will have a 3.45 LSD as standard?

Thanks,

Justin.

I believe that yes, the 6cyl is 3.45 and V8 is 3.23. V8 isn't LSD, not sure about I6

IIRC was not available as a stand alone option on AU VCT Fairmont Ghias - had to order the Tickford Sports Supsension Option to get LSD

Cheers

No LSD in the VCT, and not the V8 either IIRC...

Sports suspension did not add the LSD either, just XR6 spec Tickford shocks and lower springs (and an engraved Tickford compliance plate under the bonnet !)

Check that because it might actually be 3.23?

I thought Fairmonts got 3:23 and Ghias got the 3:45.

Both the VCT S1 and S2 Ghias I have owned had 3.45 and LSD so I figured
it must have been standard..... or was I just lucky???

Gee, I wonder what this little factory fitted item is then....

99 AU1 update Fairmont Ghia VCT with Tickford options

NB AU1 Tickford Suspension (basically the XR6 VCT package) was packaged with the 17" Alloy Wheel Option...

Memory was correct, listed as Not Available for IRS in the brochure...
Here

But listed as option with Sport Suspension in the AU2...
Here

And 3.45 was std ratio in the Fairmont Ghia VCT
Here

Cheers

James

My AU Fairmont Ghia VCT doesn't have LSD.

I thought AU Ghias didn't get it because they got traction control which doesn't work with LSD thus why the AU XR6 VCT doesn't have traction control.

I wish the AU did have LSD but sadly I'm stuck with single spinner burnouts.

I got off my butt and poked my head under (hard work I tells ya!) and can now confirm that it is definitely a 3.45 single spinner.

AU Traction Control program works on difference in rotational speed for front wheels vs rear wheels - LSD would not be a factor in this calculation. The argument that Traaction Control & LSD don't mix was marketing hype at the time as to why the XR series did not get Traction Control - and no, I'm not making it up; I ran a Ford service dept in '98 when released and later moved in to selling them in 2001 while recovering from illness.

As per the post above the LSD is listed as packaged with Tickford Sports Suspension option in the IRD Fairmont Ghia Here ......
