Been on the cards since the wagon was left behind at the FG update.
The falcon wagon has been nothing but a workhorse for many years and personally, there's no way I'd buy one before a (soon to be) diesel Mondeo wagon, even if it was a bit bigger.

Ford will be hoping to convert most of their fleet sales to Mondeo but inevitably, will lose some to sportswagon.

Mondeo wagon should move more units as its become the Fleet choice for a few companies that previously used Falcon wagons.

"Our priority was simply to get the wagon here as soon as possible, which due to production constraints out of Europe, meant petrol variants arrive first, in line with the rest of the MB Mondeo range, " Mr Lacy said.

Interesting - we've had the diesel wagon in NZ since May 2008.

Thats looks pretty nice. Love the bodykit, not sure about the wheels, but it certainly has a presence.

The answer is a no.
The XR5 Mondeo is dead. See other posts.

There may well be a turbo charged petrol version of the Mondeo, which may make it into the station wagon.

But definitely no XR5 any more.

I don't like the wheels.

I am also not a huge fan of the front - I think the XR5/Titanium front grill looks better.

Having said all of that, it is still significantly more stylish than the Falcon station wagon.

If you still want a XR5 they are still available from Ford:

Ford in Europe has ceased production of the turbocharged Mondeo XR5, but Ford Australia has secured enough stock to meet customer demand for the next four or five months.
