Default Engine Temperature Light

This came on today and I was wanted to check a few things regarding it...

1 - Do I need the car back at Ford to remove the warning light ?

2 - What can I check myself in regards to it ? I've checked the oil and radiator fluid levels and they are fine ? What other possible probs could it be ? Blocked radiator hose ? Stuffed sensor somewhere ?

Get this though...I filled the car up (over half tank anyway) and the light disappeared.... I was previously on about < 40 DTE.

Fan belt ok. No other warning lights either. Really bizarre.

I think I'll still take it in to get checked.

You sure it wasn't the low fuel warning light?

With petrol prices as they are I am quite familiar with the fuel level light...

It was def the engine temp light (looks like a thermometer in the ocean lol).

Yeh i had the light showing on my dash and it ended up being the temperature switch that goes into the side of the overflow tank.

Do you have a temp guage? If so the warning light sounds light the low coolent level warning light . The low level sensor sender unit could be stuffed or maybe you can clean them up .

Yer its definately the engine temp light. Even checked with the users manual to be sure.

Since filling up the car with fuel the light has disappeared.
