Default What is my AU worth?

Hey all,

I've decided to sell my AU wagon, due to my gf wanting something smaller. So i just wanted to ask for a few suggestions on the price. Its a 1999 AU1 Forte. Now i know the car is not perfect, but it has only done 145,000km. I purchased it with the intent to register as a daily driver, but due to mounting financial concerns we want something smaller. The air-con works beautifully and its runs like a charm, if i had the chance to keep it i would.

I thought maybe after looking at them in car yards that 3,000 to 3,500 as is perhaps.

Its a 6 seater, column shift auto, is narooma blue but has the following:

Lower ball joints worn (RWC)
Sway bar bushes worn (RWC)
Park brake doesn't hold (RWC)
Park brake light doesn't work (RWC)
Exhaust has a very small leak (RWC)
Clear coat on the roof is peeling
2 Very minor dents in the quarter panels

Thats pretty much it, I had a roadworthy done so thats all they picked on.

Here is some pics to help with desicions.

I reckon you guys are mad.

unroadworthy, 2k tops. if that.
I sold a 2000 AU Classic with RWC last year for $3500, just as a yardstick.

x2, plus wagons also seem to attract even less money. Agree on 2k.

Haha yeh but he got lucky. Backpackers are usually pretty deluded. You see them around Kings Cross trying to flog thier EA Wagons for 6k simply because they have 3k worth of camping gear in them.

I'd say the vehicle is probably worth around 2k give or take.

You'd be better off financially keeping it and putting up with the $20 extra a week its going to cost in fuel. The 2k you get for the wagon would barely pay for a early 90's corolla with rego.

I said, the only reason why my brothers au wagon sold was becuase i payed rego on it the week before , so i could use while my car is off the road, but the plan backfired the day before i went there to get it, as i got sold on me, but i was happy to get me rego money back

Seriously how much are you going to save on fuel anyhow??? I'd throw $1000 at it to get it useable and do a LPG conversion - with govt rebate it won't cost you anything - and then it will be as cheap as a Corolla to run and a much nicer place to be whilst driving.

Base model AU's are worth sweet FA. I tried selling my AUII SR for $4600 with a rwc and 6 months rego and just got time wasters wanting it for next to nothing.

I'm keeping mine now, It's worth more to me.

I just sold my old wagon an AU II in imaculate condition for $6250 with RWC. Only had about 1 and a bit months rego left. Sold to the first lookers. They didn't even start it or drive it.

So pretty much it is how you present it. In that state with odd wheels etc honestly you would be lucky to get $2000. But if you clean it up and provide a RWC you may get between $3500-$4500

Cheers Rhys.
