hey guys, just trying to source some new rims for the gf's XR4 (2007).
shes got Eibachs in it, so is just sitting just above the tyre on the rear, and the front is resting on bumpstops (so we removing half an inch out of the fronts to get the front to match the rear). and thats where my problem lies... now i know its 4x108 and roughly +40 offset (?), and the stock rims are 17x7. we are looking at some rims, 17x7 +40 .. EASY ... but also some 18x7.5 +40/45 rims... SO... will 7.5" wide rims be an issue with scrubbing on rear/front?

Yes they will and it is pretty much impossible to find rims for the Fiesta in Australia.
So I gather you are trying to increase the track width? You will have to import some rims from Europe. Cheers

yeh its hard, i found this out when looking for 5x108 rims for my sisters XR5..
4/5x114.3 would have been awesome, but oh well. not too fazed with increasing track width on a road car, but yeh thats what will happen with 18s. found some TE37s (Rays/Works) in the OP rim sizes, she's swaying towards some Enkei's too.. so its just a case of knowing clearance etc.

I've got 18 x 7.5 on my WP and its lowered 40mm. There is the occasional scrape while cranking down the freeway over some of the larger undulations but generally no issues. My wheels were re-drilled and sleeved to suit the 4 x 108 pattern and I haven't had an issue.

The standard XR4 wheels are 17" x 7" with an ET52.5 offset, 4 x 108 PCD ... the tyres of course are 205/40R17.
Use this website to play with different wheel and tyre combinations to see what the differences would make to clearances, speedo reading etc. Obviously input the original specs in the left hand panel and the "proposed" wheel and tyre combo in the right. http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.j...&text1=&text2= Remember you don't have much to play with on the front of the WQ Fiesta before the tyres will protrude outside the front guards .. about 13mm. The back on the other hand is about 25.5mm to the outer guard ... this is because the rear track on the WQ's is 12.5mm narrower than the front track ... the best fix for this is the 12.5mm axle spacers which bring the rear track in line with the front, unfortunately we are not allowed to install these in Australia .. they are an illegal modification .. lot's of threads about this around. For the record an 18" x 7.5" rim with an ET45 offset and 215/35R18 tyre would be fine .. these wheels would stick out 12mm further than stock which would just about be perfect. Wheels in 4 x 108 PCD are pretty much the hardest to find in Australia .. getting some sent over from Europe would not only open up a far wider range of choice to choose from, but would probably work out cheaper as well than getting a set locally. |

cheers guys, pretty much exactly the info i needed
zbeasty, how about at full lock or going around corners? any issues then? robjh80, thanks for the correct offset the rims would actually stick out almost 20mm more (25.4/2 + 7.5 in offset difference)

I haven't had any issues cornering or at full lock. You may get an occasional scrape if you turn into a driveway too fast but thats it. Here are some shots of mine with the wheels so you can get an idea of how it sits.
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...0&page=5&pp=30 According to the manufacturers website the offset is either 35 or 45 but I'm not sure which I got. |

Mine are AU Racing Type 229 When I was looking I was told that most wheels with a centre cap could be ordered as blanks and drilled to suit but finding a wheel without a cap was harder. Some places won't re drill 8 hole wheels but will do 4 hole whereas the guy at BSA was fine withdoing mine. I haven't had an issue with mine and they have taken some decent knocks in the last 4 years. |

i think i love you for buying those rims!
i cant believe i didnt notice they were TE37 copies! ... likely due to the flatter style (non concave... its because of the offset being +40 ish) the below links are of concaved TE37s (offset is +15) the gf has been wanting that exact rim, but in black. we were tossing up the Enkei copy (AU 225) or the Rays Volk copy (AU 229) leaning towards the "Rav Vorks" :P could you please PM me the cost of the rims and drilling please? i need to get new stickers on them since powdercoating them white, love these rims, they are genuine Rays Volk TE37s so they weigh 7.6kg per rim without tyres http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/631/img0470n.jpg http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/8523/img0469m.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/4053/img0471pji.jpg

I had a lot of places tell me that they couldn't get specific rims in for my XR4 (O.Z Supertourismo's), and it turned out a local Tyresplus store just rang Wheel Demon (an Australian wide distributor used by all the major tyre centers) and they had them in overnight. This was after about after a dozen other places turned me down? Thats not unavailibility, it's lazyness.
Rant Off...

as robjh80 has pointed out the stock offset on your 17"x7" wheels is +52
if you are looking at 18x7.5" wheels with a +45 offset Such as these Advanti Bliss then the wheel will extend no further in-board and ~13mm further outboard the vehicle. In terms of track width this fitment is still within legal limits. There are plenty of other options available.

I actually wanted the 241 but they only come in 17 so opted for the 229. I also wanted all white but that wasn't available when I got them so got the polished rim. I have replaced 2 due to vanity (meetings with gutters) and the first lot weren't clear coated so need the rims polished regularly to avoid brake dust stains. It also meant that the stickers which were on when I got them pealed off fairly quickly. The newer ones are clear coated so I don't have the same issues. I'm thinking of getting them all stripped and powdercoated white like the ones that are available now but it would probably be cheaper to just buy new ones. Unfortunately that would result in problems with the wife. I really wanted Enkei RPF1's but they don't make anything that will fit the Fiesta in an 18

Did have, but my external Hard disk went terminal, so I lost the lot. Should really take some more and put them on line some where...
Guess I have something to do for the weekend, then.

Did a few pic's last night, and posted them ==>Here<== .
The lable under the XR4 on the side is "Dreamscience". They sent me two with the Tuner I bought of them. I still have all the brake components somewhere, but I'm going to hold on to them and sell them on with the car (one day). The AP brakes arn't everyones thing, as some people find them quite harsh, or are not fans of busting their noses on the steering wheel every time they accidently apply too much brake pressure. Cheers, Matt.
