Default Low profile tyres on Eibach

Hi Guys,

Any idea what are the best tyres for 17" rims on Eibach cougar which are low profile standard. I happened to put top of the range Hankook S1 Evo silica compound tyres all around a year back as my boss insisted to have them as they are exceptionally quiet tyres and cheap as well. I did only 26,000k (most of it is interstate driving between Melbourne and Canberra) and was really surprised to see that the front ones are already kind of worn. Rear ones look near new. I had to get them balanced and aligned as its more than a year I got them checked. So, I thought I won't get the wheels rotated and let the front ones wear off completely and then replace them with new ones. Then I changed my mind and had front tyres swapped with rear ones because I want to try different brand next time all around. So any suggestions? I have Yokohama or Michelin in mind but not sure how long they last and they are expensive too.

Yogi.

Not sure what width and profile you have been running up to now, But if you are looking for a good quality 225/50/17 or 235/50/17 from the yokie range I would look at either the ADVAN Sports or a 235/45/17 in Yokie S-Drives. I would personally go for the S-Drives, I also feel the Yokies offer better bang for buck than a Michelin as well.

Am running on 215/45Z R17 91Y. This is standard tyre profile on Eibach Cougars from factory. I spent around $175 ea on Hankook Ventus S1 EVO tyres a year back. Any idea how much S-Drives would cost?

I am running BFG 215/45 R17 G Force Sport on mine and paid $184.00 fitted. Prior to this I was running Goodyears and although quieter and smoother in a straight line they didn't last and are, IMHO, an inferior product when it comes to handling.

Mine came fitted with BFG's so that is what I went back to.

Took my car back to tyre shop today and got it re-balanced. Because steering was vibrating between 100 and 120 speeds. After re-balancing, its perfect now. How long did original BFGs last? I dont know which Goodyears you have used but, as far I know goodyears last long but they are the worst tyres in wet. Goodyears are my least prefered. Mine came fitted with Michelins. I will def look into BFGs next time. Heard a lot about American BFGs on 4x4s.
