I only caught the tail end of this as I walked past the TV that night, I think I saw my number plate on it, but with 7 letters, was a bit intrigued what it was about, doesn't sound like anything interesting!

and no, if they are allowed to use the word to describe everyone on a constant basis thru the media and front page sensationalism news then why aren’t you allowed to have a plate just as a p**s take? If that’s the case im not sure why PPQ hasn’t asked me to surrender 57OLN? It portrays i've committed an illegal act to be driving said car.. Do you realise how STUPID that sounds?

I love the 'standard' Vicplates that can be taken as offensive such as
UUP-469 WTF-323 (Mazda Astina in Sydney has those plates) PEN-155 etc etc.... Get a life people /RANT |

There's a reason why they're called 'vanity' plates.

The word only has a stigma abot it due how programs like ACA and TT have portrayed it. If they weren't so far of the mark in the first place, Garry would still have his plates.
These ill informed programs spread idiotic notions all to create stories. Maybe they need to do a piece on factional journalism and the lack of it in todays society. |

It is interesting that a harmless little horse trainer from Gippsland can't have his HOON plates on a Renault Scenic...
What is even more bizzare is the fact that they've completely skipped the part about this guy Garry Rodgers being a HUGE part of Motor Racing history in this country... I suppose - thats an easy thing to leave out of a story about someone who drives a Renault Scenic... VicRoads have larger issues than recalling semi-offensive plates out there... If they issued them - they should have to stand by their product... I think the world has gone a little PC crazy if we're going to be this tight on something as simple and harmless as numberplates on cars...

Im still intrigued that you can actually order plates that are offensive in the first place. Surely theres someone at the other end of the computer who can report the plate before its actually produced, given to the owner and registered to a car?
You cant even have a plate with "SLOW" in it anymore as it implies you dont drive a safe speed on the road. Seriously, its a number plate, if I got the plate FATGRL, does that mean Im actually a fat girl? I reckon people are just getting more clever with how they spell things out, as well as ordering funny standard issue plates as mentioned above.

Slightly of topic, but I just remembered a couple I have seen. An old Hotrod at a Wintersun had SWALLOW. He had a sticker on the windscreen which read "Good Girls".
Saw another guy cruising around with FKW17. |

Plate recalls are old news,my mate had HSVWPN recalled for the same reason, anything that had WPN in it was going to go.
Funny thing was that they were not even issued to a car and on retention. They now hang on a wall because they will not be issued on a car. Id say he will lose his HOON plates wether he likes it or not. I have OFFEND as well as a few others,i wonder if that offends anybody? |

for gods sake its two bits of pressed ally people. Who cares? You must have better things to worry about- go shoot some drunk drivers. A guy here in NZ has RSOLE as a plate and I have seen RSYPE (**** wipe) too. If ya dun like it, dun look at it.

I've got a mate who had VicRoads take his plates off him... but he still has the 2 x numberplates... they're just not allowed to be on a car... Another BRILLIANT effort by VicRoads... and his were certainly not offensive... just a mistake by VicRoads... again...

I saw a Prius the other day that had PASSME on it. Needless to say, everyone was passing him.

I don't know if anyone watched the episode. I don't normally, but was flicking chanells and saw ol Gazza, so I stayed for the segment. He was spruiking on about him being an "Exceptionally Safe Driver"! At 1.57 he is parked on the wrong side of the road, across a set of double white lines, beside a Back Hoe. Again, at 2.14 he is parked with his car again straddling a pair of unbroken white lines, his time sideways to the traffic flow.
Seems about as safe as lapping Ricciardello if you ask me! Should be booked on both counts! Mike
