hey guys for those who remember me i had plans to do up my dads au 1 fairmont but it got traded in for a au 1 xr8 ute.after that plan failed and i ended up gettin a 98 manual vt commodore.but after numerous problems and mum having a small bingle in it it was traded in for a 2010 lancer and i got a motorbike out of it some how haha.well my new plans are to look into get a au ute preferably series 2 or 3 and putting an xr front end on it.what are the main differences in the series 1 to 3 xr's?i can see a difference but tell what lol.and at what cost am i looking at for a xr front end or a pursuit front end if there different??thanks in advance for those who can help me.

why dont you just buy a xr? be easier and probably no more expensive in the long term.

Not really, utes are about the 10 grand mark now, even the series 1 utes dont go cheap, could easily pick up a series 1 or 2 xr sedan under 10 grand at your local car yard
I went and looked at utes cheapest ute i found was a 5 spd manual for 8 grand, series 1

Check that link out mate, but expect to pay a fair bit for labor unless you can do it yourself. Im sure if you do a search like i just did on google you'll find plenty of information on AU to XR front end conversion.

10grand for a series 1?ive seen a few series 2 utes for 5-6grand and most of them were manual.and all the work would be done by me except for painting.my idea was to do a mock up and paint it the same as me dads xr8 in galaxy blue.but i may have to look into a sedan or a wagon.aslong as its got a towbar so i can cart my bike around its good.

Getting the headlight assyembly will be the most difficult part of the mock up. You can keep an eye on ebay but there usually broken and usually not very cheap either

i would sell you my au2 xr8 ute for 8g,manual,leather, 130 000 km,dual airbag ,galaxy blue,momo wheel and knob. there is no way i would bother with a fake xr when originals are so cheap
