Trucks should have a reverse camera on the back of the trailer wired to a large screen in clear view on the dash, so the driver can realise what is behind him/her. He/she might not care if there's a car or hundred but hopefully will care for Geckos sake that there is an ambulance, firery, police behind them, needing to pass urgently.

The problem is that truck drivers, as are all other motorists, are let down by those that have attitude difficulties. Attitudes take more than a video screen to fix.

I'll probably sound pretty naive, but isn't it correct that it is the law to pull to the left when an emergency vehicle is behind you. Could people in your position report these said drivers with attitude difficulties resulting in them getting a suspended license. These drivers rely on those pieces of plastic to support them from week to week, I'm sure they will get the message when their mates are out of work for three months.
So instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt, just penalise them.

bad, bad, bad. 99% of truckies are good but throw these cowboys in and its mayhem out there. might be off topic but my 2cs most truckies know they`ve got traffic behind them and will pull over when they can...

Interesting how a thread that started with someone asking for advice on a licence suspension has turned into a truck bashing exercise, especially by some who should know better.
Now, where can I find another 60 tonne B-double to drag race just so I can annoy a few motorists?

And the fact that you think it is funny or ok to go & do what annoys people just goes to show how some truck drivers think does it not? If you were driving a newish nice car that you took pride in would you think its funny that the truck you were behind was dropping rocks or rubbish on the road & over your car etc ?? In my area we atm have lots of roadworks going on & have many of the tip trucks with the trailers on them carting rocks the size of bowling balls or a bit smaller & dropping many of them further up the road as they travel to the drop area which then the car driver has to avoid as they are jagged etc & would ruin a tyre if run over but do they care, nope as they keep dropping them & yes this is annoying & just should not happen as 1 example. I also find it very annoying that many truck drivers take no responsability for these sort of things or accidents which are caused by speeding, bad driving, drugged driving, fatigue etc etc as is always some excuse. Yes now I am having a go at any driver who does the above things as well as the overtaking that was mentioned previously as to do these things is just plain wrong. No not all truck drivers are guilty of those things but many are. So dont get all precious when somebody complains as it is just wrong wrong wrong! I also know this is off topic but you did bring up truck driver bashing not anybody else. |

If there still is a topic....
I would say that you have a letter telling you that you will have accumulated maximum demerit points, and as soon as the fine is finalised or paid, you will have 28 days before your license is suspended for either a 3 or 6 month period.

TRUCKS? Where the hell did trucks come into it!
I am quite sure that the poster has had his question answered so I think we should get the truck out of this thread ... as it has nothing to do with the original question!
