Default El Belt Change, Any tips?

Hey guys,

I will be changing the engine belt on the EL tonight. I have not even loked at the thing yet. Does anyone have any tips,or can give me a rough idea of what to expect to speed things up a little.

Oh the radiator is out for cleaning already.

Any info would be great.
Thanks guys!!

Its too easy
put it over everything except the water pump, put a breaker bar into the belt tensioner and pull it to release the tension and slip it over the water pump pully.
(there should be a diagram on the underside of the bonnet on how to route it around everything)

Yup, what John said. If you dont have a breaker bar, slip a shifter in there, with a bit of pipe over the handle. When you put the new one on, make sure its lined up ok. Sometimes if you have trouble lining it up, cranking the engine over a few turns (not starting it, but just about), will sometimes do the job.

Dont run, or rev the car hard with the belt not lined up, otherwise it will probably end in a big tangle, but generally, they line up pretty easy.

Dont forget to take off the black belt ancillaries cover from the front of the engine. Take the lid off the power steering resivoir, undo the 12 (or 13mm?) nut from the other side of the cover and pull it straight off, that will give you room to do ya thing ;)

Easy as Anna Nicole!
