I really like the look of the Skodas especially the wagon - but for the life of me being involved in the Aftermarket I'd really hate to see the parts cost by the dealer service departments when those times come along......

In my case, when I purchased my Octavia vRS I bought a number of spare parts items like a box of 8 oil filters for $120. Front and rear slimline moulded mudflaps for $150, Genuine rubber floormats for $60 and a host of other little bits and pieces to help me keep the car well maintained like top up packs of oil and genuine g12 coolant. I was pleasantly suprised when the invoice slipped across the counter. There is also a very comprehensive aftermarket and forum following in the UK and across Europe to assist with all kinds of inside and enthusiast knowledge...... |

In saying that, neglect to service any one of these modern turbo diesels and it will bite you on the ****. |

As well as the seat base at its lowest still being too high? (though not as vertigo inducing as a Focus)

The equipment list of the titanium is good but engines in the skoda are much better, also comes with:-
*Sat nav *Full leather electric seats with memory (mirrors also with memory) *Footwell lights front and rear *Chilled glove compartment and centre console *MASSES of rear legroom *Bi xenon headlights *wagon will actually PARK ITSELF (option on sedan) *30GB hard drive built in for all your music *Electrochromatic anti glare rear view mirror *Tyre pressure monitoring & *umbrella holder in door with drain. Engines:- Skoda 1.8 turbo: 118kw@4500-6200, 250nm 1500-4500. Fuel cons City 9.6 Hwy 5.9 Avg 7.3. Mondeo 2.3: 118kw@6500rpm, 208NM@4200rpm. Fuel cons City 14.1, Hwy 6.8, Avg 9.5. Skoda 2.0tdi: 125kw@4200rpm, 350NM@1750-2500rpm. Fuel cons City 8, Hwy 5.3, Avg 6.3. mondeo 2.0tdci: 103kw@4000rpm, 320nm@1750-2240. Fuel cons City 10, Hwy 5.7, Avg 7.3. with the skoda at only $2000 more I can see clearly which is the better value, not to mention nicer looking interior's and dare I say it quality. As I may have already said I've been looking at them for a family member recently and came away very impressed. Some of their options are pretty cool too, like a sun roof with solar panels on top with built in ventilation than can drop the cars temperature by 25 degrees! Auto tailgate for wagon and Premium phone bluetooth displaying the contents of your phones contact list on the touch screen along with a dialer, SOS button and recent calls list (have this in the golf and love it!) The VR6 model costs more but worth a test drive for its meaty growl and fantastic performance. End of the day it depends on which floats your boat better though really. Stoney!

I can say that the 'Super-B' as we like to call it, is a FANTASTIC car!
The standard features this thing has packed into it, for the price range is crazy. The quality and finish is 'superb' and its ride and handling (awd variant) is exceptional (race track testing) & it's not too bad to look at to top it all off! I say bite the bullet, get one in black and your sorted. Something out of the ordinary, and something to enjoy driving. If you want more info, PM me and I can help you out. Cheers |

All the opinions and input has been interesting in this thread.
I had another look at the Mondeo today, yes its a nice car and the Titanium will be a very nice piece of kit! However the Elegance Wagon may present a better overall package even with the 2-3k price diff. I would like to get one in the next few months but have been told there will be none available in the country till Dec 11!!!!! This is crazy. If this proves to be true I may have to settle for the Mondeo. Not a bad compromise but not preferred. Anyone able to confirm this? |

Wagons in the $30,000 to $60,000 range are in hot demand. Try getting a Calais Sportwagon before September. Wagons have become the new sedan. |

Ordered a Superb Elegance Wagon yesterday, thought it was worth the punt in the end.
Got it for $48k driveaway, stock. Couldnt get the Mondeo Titatium for less than $47k, the value between them is to close. See how it goes, feels like am playing blackjack! |
