Rusted heater bubble!

Hey guys,

I know this is a really common inconvenience with the escy's, but i've gotta ask... how does everyone go about this?

I've done some exploration work and cut a decent sized whole in the heater bubble, cleared out all the build up of 30 years of debris, but theres still water in my floor wells after it rains (heater bubble has rusted out the back causing it to leak just behind the heater box inside).

Would love a bit of guidance, i've tried spreading tar on the seam to create a seal, but its just not working. Give me some insight!

you will find that the ring on the inside around the heater has rusted away, besy move is to fully remove the bubble & replace the ring.
It can be patched up from the inside by removing the heater and by patching the ring but would be a tempory fix

Drill out the spot welds on the bubble.
