Default engine number

Hey guys,

Does anyone know where i can find the engine number on an AU motor? Im under the impression that it is stamped somewhere, but cant for the life of me find it. What i thought was the engine number, was actually the casting number

On that note, when you do an engine swap, how important is it to let Motor reg know that you have done it?

Cheers
