I would like to know what everyone else put in their AUs. I run my car on premium (very costly) but it gives a nicer ride with no pinging. I run my car on normal unleaded when i got it and it was pinging alot and didn't have no power when take off. I would be interest to see what other people put in their AUs.

I run normal ulp and only get pinging under flat floor acceleration with the trailer on. Still get it with premium hence why l save my dough. No diff in fuel econemy on either.

I've done many tests and calculations, with different types of fuels. And i found that for my car the added cost of premium is worth it.
With normal ULP, the car feels rough, and isnt as smooth and responsive as Optimax, Vortex or Ultimate. The most i'd manage out of a tank of ULP, would be around 520-550kms. With premium, i can easily see 550, and going easy, can see over 600. I do a mix of driving, probably 60 (city) / 40 (country/hwy). I always try and go for the BP Ultimate, as i normally get more kms and slightly more bum-o-meter feeling over Optimax or Vortex. But as fuel prices are getting up there, i'm using Optimax, so i can get the 8c off.

BP Ultimate makes a big difference in my AU2 VCT. Much smoother behaviour, more power / range with no pinging, though it is tuned with a chip for 98 octane. Anything else generally leads to pinging around 3,000 revs and less performance.

I use ULP, recently went back from BP 95 and didn't make any difference whatsoever. However, the BBQ fuel seems to keep things in check if there was any pinging. Just what I've found. Others may disagree.
Would be interesting to see what happens when the ute goes on the dyno again. My car was running rich when I was using 95, I wonder if it still is on ULP.

I've never used anything but premium in my car... usually Vortex, thought every now and then I use BP ultimate.

BP Ultimate. Barring that Optimax as a 2nd choice. Admittedly my XR8 is a weekend warrior so the extra cost of the Ultimate doesn't hurt as much.

Ive found that BP Ultimate gives me AUII Wagon a lot better ride, in consumption and response. I've done some trips from Townsville to Mt Isa on BP and got over 900km out of one tank sitting on 100km/h. I've found that it improves the city driving as well. Premium does make a difference and i think it's worth it if you're getting more mileage and response for about $5 extra a tank.

Ultimate for the XR, if not Optimax.

I'm a tight ****. Fuel is fuel, I go with what ever is the cheapest when I need fuel.
As for pinging, I have no idea what that means, so my car doesn't do it. Someone explained it once. Then again, I rarely take my car over 3,500 rpm. |

Woolies/Caltex ULP 3 out of 4 tanks. Vortex or Vortex 98 every 4th tank.

Use generally Vortex 98 (yes for the 8 cents off, but dont really care), or Mobil 8000.

Only BP Ultimate for my baby, sometimes I give it a drink of Mobil Synergy 8000, but I do prefer the BP.

when i use premo, i start the ute and its very rough for a couple of seconds i dunno why. only ever does it on premium.
however once it gets over its little dummy spit, it runs alot smoother, once the turbo is on it will only be premium.. as for fuel price difference, work is 9.2k from my driveway and i have a motorbike as well, so its not really that much of a drama |

BP 95 or Ultimate only but mostly BP 95, if I run regular I get a really strong sulpher(egg) smell. I find out the car runs much smoother, don't know about the mileage seems to be a little better.

Mobile 6000 in most cases. If Mobile 8000 isn't too pricey then I'll go that. I have to run on premium so normal unleaded isn't really an option.
