Default Focus Water damage

Hey all just a heads up be careful with large puddles or bodys of water in heavy rain with the LHS of the car. The engine pulls its air from quite low in the LHF wheel area I have now seen 3 engines bend rods 2 went out the side from people driving them through water or having large amounts of water pushed past by other cars. All have been LS/LT but it may happen to others I am not saying don't drive in the rain just avoid large amounts of standing or running water.

Do most insurance companies cover engine damage in these situations?

Hi Matt, thanks for the heads up.

This shouldn't be a problem for those who have changed their intake and removed their intake resonator which draws in air near the passenger side wheel arch.

Yeah it damaged the bottom 20mm of the sleeve with the block stripped it has all but been cut in half its really only the sleeve that survived.

rand0mn00b yep all from water you can't compress a liquid so something has to bend/brake.

Matt,

I need to 3d scan an engine block. I am hoping you are in Melbourne. Is it available? You can have it back if required.

Geez, thats really bad. I'm guessing its unrepairable and insurance would've replaced the engine? Can you buy new engines from ford spares? or recons?
