Default James Freud dead

Sadly James Freud, lead singer of one of the best Aussie acts ever, The Models, passed away today. He spent many years fighting the bottle, but seems to have lost.

The Models was the first (and only) time I snuck into a licenced venue underage. Had a blast and waht a show it was. Very drunk and walked home from the old Canterbury Court in Perth. Great memories of a great night.

Another great loss to Aussie music.

RIP James.

What a pity. They were a pretty good band in their day.

Yeah heard that today, he was actually the bass player and sometime singer, Sean Kelly was generally the lead singer iirc. Either way, Models where a top band that eptimised the Aussiefied new romantic era in the 80's, I think I saw them at the Old Melbourne in Perth back then, or the Parrot?

I actually liked him in the Radio Stars too. They had success with Modern Girl, a more poppy number which was Freuds leaning, as opposed to Kellys more serious approach which IIRC, caued a rift between the two school friends.

You'll find the booze was only half the problem, all the rubbish he shoved up his arm/nose wouldn't have helped much either.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.
