Default ice break commercials

hey guys heres the commercial in question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4926..._profilepage#!

ok now heres my point - why is it when we are selling iced coffee we can drive like a lunatic but when we are selling cars we cannot, what is with this double standard here I have been waiting for the doom-and-gloom brigade to get the ad pulled off air but it hasn't yet happened why is this? if the vehicle was perhaps a Ford would it make a difference in the outcry level from the nay sayers? your thoughts please as I am quite confused by the fact that this ad is allowed yet the highly artistic and well done beemer IIRC ad in the warehouse with paint on the tyres gets yanked...

maybe there are different rules for euro cars and aussie cars?

it is a quite interesting topic.

do we know for sure that the BMW ad was pulled because it promoted unsafe driving? or for some other reason?

The difference is that the car companies have bound themselves to the code for auto advertising, but this is a milk ad, so the driving is not relevant. Milk advertisers and everyone else i not bound by the auto "code of conduct"

but think about it GTP owner the doom-and-gloom complain about everything brigade are allowing this, when it clearly depicts unsafe driving at high speed in unsafe conditions thus encoraging others to do it because "they seen it on television"

Personally I wouldn't make the decision on buying on car, determined on if the car is doing a burnout/drifting or not.

But the ad is kinda cool

They can complain, but the advertisers are not bound to the voluntary code. The reason being that anything would then be open to criticism. eg jumping out of planes when you drink coke, being attractive when you drink alcohol, and bears that drink rum (animal abuse for sure!)

All these adds tell me is that some holden owners must like pinching stuff from employers, and cut their mates out of the pre arranged deal!

Yep, and the one with the xr8 stuck in 2nd gear overtaking the thrust thing. It encouraged speeding apparently

Typical Holden Drivers are portrayed in that ad. Bogans & Thieves.

*Just Kidding* I don't actually think all Holden owners are like that
