Exclamation Unfair Speeding Fine!!! Entrapment????

My brother in law ,today was driving from Rockhampton to Brisbane.
He overtook a plain looking ute, next thing he knows is the ute has pulled him over for 27kms over the limit and $330 fine!!!! Isn't that entrapment???? You always speed when overtaking but get back to the limit afterwards.
Captain Bligh must be desperate for cash to stoop so low.
Police will never get the respect of motorists when they do things like this.

Although sometimes common sense should prevail, as it stands, the prescribed speed limit is just that...the limit!

As far as i know you cant legally cross that without speeding, especially at 27k's over...thats 25% above the national maximum of 110K/hr

Firstly, this isn't America so you can forget about the word "entrapment".

Secondly how exactly is it entrapment? He overtook someone and got caught speeding. Tell him to deal with it.

Haha, what a dumb thread, so you saying its not fair as he was not speeding, or its not fair that he is dumb enough to go over the limit by 27km/hr over taking an unmarked police car.

Spot on. We can’t use “entrapment” as a defence in this country.

You’ll just have to cop it unless you can prove that the speed measuring device the copper was using was properly calibrated. That also includes checking the tyre pressure of the police vehicle as he was booking you.

Next time, have a closer look at the car you’re about to bag up before doing so. You will get no sympathy from a magistrate for bagging up an unmarked cop car.

Even if we could use the term "entrapment" this certainly isnt entrapment...

Note to self, leave it alone and step away from the computer before you hurt yourself!

Can't do it, I have to ask. What speed was the ute doing when he overtook?

Bet it was a white commodore ute he over took. I see one all the time between Gladstone and Gin Gin, usually with a customer.

Suck it up, Speeding is speeding!

Boo Hoo.
Caught speeding - cop it on the chin and move on.

There is no State or Territory in Australia where it is legal to break the speed limit to overtake some.
ANYONE with a license and half a brain would know this.

Considering the potential for major carnage, and not just inside the confines of this thread.
The fun police have thrown on the lights, & sirens, bringing this disaster to a premature end.
