but the current state of music shouldn't be judged on what vomit jess moubouy or short stack are producing.

There are heaps of awesome aussie bands out there at the moment from all genre's, the problem is with commercial australia following US trends and what-not ya have to go and find good music yourself and not wait for lamish and blandy to present it to you via script on a douchebag radio station

From a business standpoint they are nothing but an absolute phenomenon; from a music standpoint who hasn't had one of their songs stuck in their head after spending time with their children?
Let me ask a few simple questions.
If I were to say fruit salad, would anyone say "Yummy yummy"?
If I were to say everybody sing, how many would say "La la la la la"?

Anyway, Nick Cave is actually a bit of a rock legend in Australia, simply for the fact that he does what he wants; he's not dictated to by others. Further, who can't like him for taking out a speed camera? I'm tipping that it may even get a mention on the news of Top Gear.

Imagine though, if the Big Red Car took out a speed camera in NSW? Murray, Geoff, Anthony, yellow one? Anyone?

lol... that is lebelled "music"?

I reckon I lasted 20 seconds after the vocals started and thought

He might be famous for writing songs or being left of field, but he definately aint got vocal ability! It reminds me of the song Nicholas Hope sings in Bad Boy Bubby!

Plenty of new up and coming bands that have great skill. Some of them make it, some of them dont.

Good lord mate, it was over 15 years ago that I saw Bad Boy Bubby and it still gives me nightmares. If Sigmund Freud were alive when that movie came out he would not just open a file, he would need a filing cabinet to deal with the disturbing mother issues that boy had. Hopefully the creator and all those associated with the film are getting better through their grief counselling. Obviously the movie was designed for the "shock genre"; unfortunately it over-qualified and was correctly placed in the "WTF were they thinking?" genre instead.

I think Nick Cave's the first to admit he can't 'sing' as such. I've heard him say it a few times now.

I probably should clarify I'm not really doubting his songwriting, as has been said others have done covers and turned it into a great song. His lyrics are ok, just the way he delivers them.

Perhaps a bit like how Bob Dylan has wrote so many songs that were not a hit for himself, but successfully redone by other artists who have added better music and singing to the song to make it more appealing.

Rocker Nick Cave takes out speed camera, becomes local hero?

by Zach Bowman (RSS feed) on Dec 23rd 2010 at 8:28AM

Nick Cave is a man among men. Aside from cranking out some seriously awesome rock as the lead man for bands like the Bad Seeds and Grinderman, the legend has also taken up saving British drivers from the nuisance of speed cameras. At least in Brighton. At this point, it's unclear whether Cave intentionally took out the camera with his Jaguar or if the roles were reversed and the pole lashed out at the car as the rock star contends. At this point, we're apt to side with Cave's version of events.

Meanwhile, the rocker has become a local hero in the eyes of motorists that had been living under the tyranny of the speed camera. Apparently there's no shortage of people willing to buy the man a drink, and for good reason. We don't exactly support vigilante vandalism, but we aren't huge fans of speed cameras either. Cave and Grinderman are set to play alongside Rammstein, Tool and Iggy Pop and the Stooges at the Big Day Out music festival around the world next year.

I was 16 years old when my dad took me to my first ever concert, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Palais in Melbourne. Theres something about him, yes he cant sing like an angel, but by god his songs can move you.

Ive seen him since then (14 years ago) and still everytime he seems to get better. Oh and ive never seen anyone who could drink as much as he did that night and still play the piano like he did. Pure legend in my books.

Search Youtube for the ship song or deanna.

Bad Boy Bubby, now thats a blast from the past..... Christ Kid your a weirdo!!

Nick Cave is most definitely a legend. Writes powerful songs, and whislt his singing voice hasn't the range of say, elton john. He can sing just fine.

How can you not appreciate these:

The fact he nailed a speeding camera only improves his status in my eyes.

Really?

Your taking the ****, surely?

Or do you really have Silver Side Up in your CD collection alongside Hinder's Extreme Behaviour & Creed's Human Clay?

If so, go give yourself an uppercut.
