Don't think it's a kiwi plate, looks like it's got a fair few digits on it.

They are not the NSW Euro plates. Ours go N-XE-007 (for example). That looks like a genuine Euro plate.

Maybe some info on where the pic is from, and why you want to know wouold be good!
Apart from that, it looks like an AU Monty to me too. I don't know about Series or wether it is a Ghia or Not. As usual I will just state the bleeding obvious...

It's definately an AU series 1 Fairmont (non Ghia). The horizontal bar in the grille gives it away. AUII and AUIII Fairmonts & Fairmont Ghias got rid of the horizontal bar. Also, those rims are 15" AUI Fairmont only. From AUII, even the Forte got 16"s. Check out the brochure scan of AUI Falcons at http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...cat=594&page=2 and you will see the similarities (pity the photo's from the back)

Is that my eyes playing tricks with the light, or does that front righthand quarter panel look scraped against?

Definatley a Series One, and I'd say Oxford, not congo. Whilst I am saying things, I'd say that it is in a non falcon country, hence the initial question.

AUs (Fairmonts & Ghias only from memory) were sold in South Africa and a few other African countries. Exported fully build up from Ford Australia. I don't think they were very successful and I am sure the venture didn't last into AUIIs. I remember the Ford SA web site listing them and some internet coverage at the time.
