How long does batt need to be disconected to clear the ERR on stereo for 96 laser

I guys disconected batt of the wifes car for work and the code needed to be punched in but for were to busy so just tried with 0000 and now it has an ERR on the screen.Does anyone know how long it needs to be batt off for.I've tried 1.5 hours and it is still there.

Hey KW,

Try these mate

preset 6, AM, Auto M, Seek ^ (up).

or

I know this one works on a 2002 Laser:
Step one:- press one at a time- preset 6, AM, Auto M, Seek ^ (up).
Step Two:-Input this number, 4989.
Step Three:- Press and hold Auto M and Preset 6 together.
Step Four:- The Word 'GOOD' will appear on the screen indicated that the radio will work.
Step Five:- Reprogram new Antitheft code into radio as per instrution manual.

thanks for your time but I can't work out the "auto m" button would it be AS button near presets

Not real sure mate without looking at radio. I tried the 96 search so it should be close.

K.ta tried it a hundred times last knight but without an owners manual it's a bit of a guess will give it a go when the wife gets home in the daylight.

One more thing how do you enter 4989 with 6 presets

This little pric k is still showing ERR on the stereo.Will prob get a CD player for it.Is still very annoyed as who would steal a cassette player now days.

To change number , first number use the preset 1 however many times to get the number required. Ie your first number is 4, you have to hit the number 1 button 4 times, then second number will get you second number of code and so on. probably should not have posted code either mate. No matter.

Sorry that procedure didn't work, took me a while to find it on google, forgot my 2002 laser was a mazda, just rebadged. lol. All the best with it mate,

Thanks again but still won't clear the ERR on this little rick with a silent "P" but what I think I need is an owners manual with stereo picture to make sure I know where the Auto M button is as there is nothing like that on the facia.My son is home from the mines {X ford machanic** he has the security bits to get the stereo out and buy mrs a new one.Just peed off about it more than anything.Ford taking a week and a half to get back to me with the code didn't help,but it's been 3 weeks with out it now.
