Default Fireworks & animals

How many of you are looking forward to fireworks tonight knowing your pet hates them and is caused great distress. My poor staffy goes mad and tries to eat the back door to get in.
Call me a wowser but I generally think fireworks suck for that reason.

anyone with pets should lock them up inside tonight.
Fireworks do scare animals, they dont understand whats happening so their natural instinct is to get as far away as possible.
This usually means that pets run away, sometimes they can be lost.
If you value the friendship of your pet, look after it and lock it up.

Lock you cats/dogs inside is a must, otherwise you will lose them or they could get ranover by cars or going to lost dog/cars home and that is worse feeling any family will go through, i don't have to worry about my cat with fireworks in my suburb since we don't get any fireworks in my suburb.

Yes I will be locking up our two...

Our neighbours have already told us there will be fireworks tonight. At least they let us know.

My pooch (also staffy) does the exact same thing, the minute they start he goes nuts. He doesn't run away, seems like he's challenging them to a fight or something. He was fine up until about 10 months old when some ********** decided it would be funny to throw a bunch of Chinese firecrackers in the front yard. He'll sit quietly when thunder is right overhead though.

If I'm home, all windows and doors are shut, and I keep him as close as possible. If I'm not home, all is still shut, but I normally have the aircon going and the tv or radio on, drowns out the noise a bit. They're sooky buggers, but you gotta love 'em. :-)

Have always given my dogs quiet reassurance during fireworks, now generally they don't bother them.
That said, nights like tonight I make sure they are inside.

Our 16 month old Stafford watched the fireworks with us last night as he did last year when he was a baby. He didn't even flinch when the neighbours let off some HUGE crackers!
You have a Stafford, he should be a fearless mighty warrior!
2 tablespoons of 40mpa concrete with a 6 inch piece of Roo tail should see him right

Our dog (now deceased) was a stray outside our place after fireworks. No tag, no chip etc. The Lost Dog's Home took him and we got him back from there.

I wonder how many dogs nick off after fireworks each year?
