i have an au2xr8.
I cant remove the bracket that holds the ecu so therefore cant remove ecu. it is not a screw that is holding the bracket its is somtething else. can someone please tell me how to remove this to get to the ecu??? any help is much appreciated! thank you |

It is a large rivet mate, you have to drill the sucker out

If it's a torx headed screw, you can use a 5mm socket to remove it. If it's a rivet, then drill as per Racecraft's advice.

Where are you from? If you are in a bit of a bind and pushed for time it might be quicker to give someone a call. I'll PM you with my number as an option if you get really stuck. You only have to use approx. 4mm-5mm drill. The head of the rivet is much larger than the rest of it. If you have a centre punch, would be best to use it as the head of the rivet is convex and the its difficult to keep drill centred(very important). Once this is out you can open the bracket up like a hinge. From memory I don't think you can fully remove it. There certainly a bit more to the story but I'm already late to start my shift. Sorry. Find a drill bit a couple of cm larger than the centre hole/core of the rivet and drill straight through the middle... hopefully it should just pop off or fall appart then (once the core is removed). If it drills through and still doesn't come out try the next drill bit size up and so opn until it does.
