All things being equal - which blower will give the quickest time? A K/B or a Procharger (either P1SC or F1R). I have a basic understanding of their features and benefits - now just working out costs versus the 1/4 times.
Pursuit Ute 2003. Engine rebuilt 6/2009 with forged internals, 42lb injectors, twin 3 inch exhaust high flow cats pacemaker extractors, ss induction. Comp ratio I believe is 8:5. New timing chains/tensioners 10/2010. Has 3500 stall convertor and don't know what the result will be given that the K/B kit would be boosting before that. I don't want to just be spiining at the line. Car is a daily driver. You guys are the experts and been there done that, I"m just starting so ALL your feedback is very appreciated. The KB 2.6 kit with the works (inc fuel setup) is $18,300 & waiting on the quotes from Procharger. What do you all think ????? or should I look at a twin turbo set up??????Have no idea what that would cost or what the result would be! |

depends on what sorta power u want to make? Pro-Charger kits are usually cheaper. a F1-R is good for around 1200hp. Pro-Charged cars have proven to be faster over the 1/4. a KB will drive better on the street, if u want to run 8's or 9's then go a Pro-Charger if u want to run 10's then a KB is the go.
a twin turbo setup will probably set you back around $20-$25k and will net you similar power to the F1-R. the fastest modular powered cars in the world are turboed. Last edited by prasac; 14-01-2011 at 04:03 PM. |

Thanks Prasac, I was hoping you would reply. I have read many of your threads and wish I had your knowledge to go about things. Still have not rec'd email re the Prochargers, but what do you reckon the cost would be for both kits?

The KB can be specced with an intercooler.
I suggest you go for a ride in cars equipped with both. Both kits will result in more power than the B series platform is able to harness down the 1/4 mile without driveline and suspension modifications, so to me, it doesn't come down to which will make the car faster. The chassis will be your limiting factor Im afraid. 450, 500 rwkw from either brand wil give you enough potential to push the car into 10's, that's if your wallet is deep enough to work the chassis as well.

tex is right, the chassis is a key point but it all just depends on how fast u want to go.

a brand new p1sc pro charger went for $700 on us ebay... pretty easy to fab up a bracket.... keep an eye out for a d1sc next size up as i think f1's are a bit to big
