Default Mother of the year?

A HOON mother and son had their cars impounded after drag-racing at 100km/h within metres of children in a daycare centre.

Geelong Magistrates’ Court was told Leeanne Young and her probationary-driver son, Christopher Young-Segar, were on their way to a mechanic to get a roadworthy on Young’s car when they were sprung by police, the Geelong Advertiser reports.

Both cars were impounded at a cost of $350 to each.

Young, 43, of Fairbairn Drive, Corio and Young-Segar, 21, of Armytage St, Corio, pleaded guilty yesterday to charges of highway racing and careless driving.

Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Geoff Lamb said that, about 11.55am on August 25, last year, police were in the carpark of a Thompson’s Rd bakery when they heard engines revving loudly.

"They looked up and saw a blue Holden sedan with no registration plates in the left lane and a white Holden sedan in the right lane racing each other at high speed," he said.

"Police estimated the speed of both cars to be in excess of 100km/h in a 60 zone."

The prosecutor said police stopped the mother and son about three kilometres further along Thompson’s Rd where Leeanne Young, behind the wheel of the blue Holden, admitted she had been racing her son.

Good to see Mum is keen for some racing, but she really should save it for Heathcote or Calder

Yet another reason pointing towards compulsory sterilisation for some.

I actually laughed when it mentions "Holden"....but lets not turn this thread into a "typical holden driver blahblah"....we're better than that

I think this mum goes in the running up against the other mum in her magna with her kids in the boot.

And you wonder why some kids misbehave.
Normally there is nothing new to add to a thread about hoon behaviour but having the mum involved in it is pointing to the way a small section of society is heading which leads to more news stories on hooning and tougher motoring laws.

I don't get it. I really don't.

They were waiting to see who won the drag......they had bets on it.....

In all seriousness......here is a classic example of justifying compulsory impounding and cancellation of license for minimum 12 months with no chance of suspended sentence on the cancellation. These 2 clowns should also be made to do compulsory community service for 12 months at a Hospital dealing with road trauma victims.

Where in the article does it say they were Commodores? It says they were driving Holden sedans, which could mean anything from an FX to a WB, or any other sedans in the Holden range.
