Default cheap interstate car transport

just bought a four wheel drive in wagga wagga and need to get it up to townsville. i dont mind how it gets here as long as its cheap, doesn't matter if they scratch it as long as its nice and cheap. ive googled it and the best i can find is $1800 bugger that. driving it up is not an option right now as i am part of the cyclone yasi relief and wont have time off for a while.
cheers, Fordomatic

Best bet would be check either with Wagga based transport company's going north or Townsville one coming south explaining you dont mind if they use it for Fork lift practice ,

Toll is about the only car carrier here. There are a couple of others but they only do local work.

As for the price. The problem you're going to have is that most car manufacturers are in the Sthn states, and putting yours on would take up a full fare space so to speak.

I don't think the Railways move cars anymore, except on the Indian Pacific with their owners.

I just used Toll to ship a Falcon ute from Darwin to Adelaide - $480 - no drama at all

Of course that's just an example - i realise you need to go from Wagga to Townsville

If you get it by rail make sure it's in a closed container.

If the train pulls up at the wrong place at the wrong time your car might have a different paint job when it arrives.

the big factor, from my experiences, is 'can they drive it?' if they can drive it onto the truck, I think you will get a better price. I had to get a car from East Gibbsland to Adelaide, and it couldn't be driven. The quotes were about $2000. through the forum here, I got it (delivered !) for $1000. PM if you want details.

$1700 is cheap from Wagga Wagga,i paid that for an FC holden from Orange NSW 8 years ago that car was a runner, with working brakes and handbrake.trouble is your way off their normal route i would have thought $2500 these days, and toll charged my mate $2600 from Hervey Bay to Dubbo last year as it had a bull bar and was a troopy and it took 3 weeks to arrive
