Default Insurance grn ps help wanted!

Hey guys just after some thoughts:

I have a ba mk2 that I purchased around about 2years ago.

I first insured my car with Aami 1600 every 6 mnths with no mods listed

Then it kept dropping couple hundred a year

Now my car has 6gz worth of mods, insurance have no clue.

I got a quote from just car insurance with mods for agreed value 20k

But it's 2535 annually. Worth it? Just wanna no what p platers are paying now days cheers

DONT TELL ME PUT IT IN PARENTS name I'm self-independent. Thank u

I've owned 1 other car previously a my03 Subaru.. (which I only had it for 42hours! Which was written off to some dicks in their vz being dicks.

Makes me feel better about paying approx $1200/year in insurance.

For three cars, one fully comp, the other two 3rd party fire/theft.

Don't forget that Ins pricing is VERY dependant on your age and your address.

Telling us how old you are and where you live will give others something to compare with.

You're only 20-21, you're a P-plater and you've written off a performance vehicle before which by the sounds of things was your fault. The $2,500 is worth paying if you want the reassurance that if you were to smash again your car would be replaced. Personally, if I were you, I'd sell the car and drive something standard so that I could insure it third party for $400 a year and wait till I was older to drive something quick.

Sounds about right.

My first car was worth 6500 and I was paying around 1500 per year. (late 80's, no accidents, 4 year old Ford Meteor with a raging 54kw)

Now the alarming thing about your post is you mention that you don't have your mods listed with your current insurance provider. In which case don't drive the car unless you can afford NOT to be paid out in event of an accident and can afford to cover any damage you cause if you are at fault.

You have given your insurer an opportunity to legally reject any claim as the mods aren't listed.

Hmm true will probs just go with just car with mods listed, money wise I can afford, but it's pretty stupid I know I'll get around toit nah I'm not thinking of selling this thing I own is beauty, hopefully won't have any accidents I'm safe enough well controlled driver. Just other peeps on rds that need further considerations.

If anything were to happen I'd get all parts removed! Reinstall factory items Except can't do much bout the sunroof sadly :(

@ Dallas....

Get them listed mate.

Also beware that some 20" tyres don't have the load rating req'd, which again gives
an assessor a reason to reject any claim that arises.

I have a mate that owns a panel shop and with the way the financial markets have been over the last few years (and also the record payout insurance will be making this year) assessors are looking very carefully at any claims.

20's shouldn't effect the premium too much. I am with AAMI and it didn't raise my premium. They are just listed as an extra with a $$$ value.

@ PTBL....

Its good in theory to remove the parts prior to a claim, but what if the car is totalled and you are unable to do this ?

Its one of the sucky things about being a young'un.

In 10 years time you'll hopefully have a good driving record and insurance will be alot cheaper.

PS. I pay $620 a year for the XR6T with good driving record.

Try suncorp.

I rang around a few insurers fow myself a year ago Suncorp were the only one who came to the party with a good deal, best inclusions & wont charge me an arm & a leg if I added mods to the car, & were also unlimited in what mods you could have. Plus you dont have to tell them when you change something. Just keep the reciepts stored, & if it needs replacing, you show them the receipts for what was on the car at the time of the incident.

I'd say just ring around, & get some prices. Just make sure your getting what you want for the best price.
