Default Jumping out of 2nd!

Hi- my 2009 manual Fiesta - had it since new- now 26000ks- like the car BUT really since I bought it the gearbox will mostly not hold 2nd when you go down thru the gears (I am not in racing mode!) - it is worse when you are doing it down hill- dealer reckons he cant make it do it- sure! - I have taken it bac twice

I have spoken to a friend who has the same problem

Is this a common problem and what can I do??

Thanks

It's very common with the IB5 gearboxes in the WQ Fiesta's .. mine does exactly the same thing .. always has done

Do the WS Fiesta's also have the IB5 gearbox?

I can't remember exactly why it happens, I remember reading an explanation
for it somewhere, I think on one of the UK forums maybe ... all I remember is that it's nothing to worry about

As I said, mine has done it basically since new, never bothered about it under warranty and the cars now done 60,000km and it's still going fine .. still jumps out of 2nd gear of course, just got used to it and put it down to one of the quirks of the car.

I dont know just what the problem may be but in no way would I consider it "normal". Older cars jump out of gear because of wear and tear but a new or newish car something must not be adjusted right.

My Wq has done it since new, i have taken it back 3 times to the dealer they can not replicate my problem so i gave up. mostly when the car is over 3000rpm in second and you take your foot off the accelerator it will thump out of second in mine.

Thanks for the replies- I have taken it back too with the same "cant find the problem"- surely Ford/dealers must know there is a problem

This is a NEW car and has done it virtually since new!- any suggestions about what we can do?

AND dont get me going about the air vents that CANT be turned off your feet!
