I was told by a bike cop, they rarely target bikes because it's usually a 20min can swap pass the test then back to loud, where as a car that fails usually gets a new muffler etc... And the owners don't swap straight back, as the change usually costs the car owner money and is more permanent.

It used to take me 10min to change the slip ons on my Harley, so if I got epa'd no biggie, stock pipes on and the tester is at the end of my street, go there pay the $25 ride home and swap back over

That's why they should have a mobile test kit. On the spot fines.

I dont begrudge people having fun with their bikes, but its pretty obvious by the way some harley riders apply the throttle, they're trying to create noise... and they seem to love doing it at 3am in quiet back streets.

also have heard some harley owners even though their bike was only rebuilt in the past few years, have an original block from back in the day when their wasnt any sound limitations on motorbikes.

Im not sure of the accuracy of that statement.

anyway sometime later i received a letter of withdrawal or similar and that was that.

however i suspect all the rubbish i wrote in the letter was irrelevant and just like everything else, the people that issue these kind of things have a degree of discretion that they can use, and because of that it pays to write a letter, but be warned if it does not go your way it will be used against you in a court of law.

GOOD LUCK!

its not an illegal mod.. its a passable mod.. sure its dicking around the lines, but its no different to changing the exhaust completely twice.

I've had my previous car (Subaru Legacy GT wagon) EPA'd three times.

First time, i complied, stock exhaust back on. Easy.

Second time, a little more peeved but passed.

Third time was after being pulled over by the plod, and me getting the shits after the police man pulled me over for being in the T2 lane on the Eastern with one person in the car. I got the shits because there was three peoples in the car, just they were asleep. Guess he didnt like my attitude. So he EPA'd my car. So i wrote a nice letter to the commission, and what do you know, EPA notice rescinded.

Personally, i say fight whatever you can. They work on the reasoning that not everyone will argue their case. Case in point, the stupid Speed camera at Wellington Rd on Eastlink.

What would happen if one of our Finest's vehicle's got dobbed would they still have to take the squad car in?

Being in Qld, I just find this law a wee bit strange 'cause anyone could be waste government time and money dobbing anyone in because blah blah annoyed them over their dog or something what not....

I just think this law is a bit a silly and can be abused very easily forget about the dob in line get the main roads crews out on the streets doing random inspections.

Doubt they'd take in the squad car, it'll have stock exhaust.

What are you talking about?, every 2nd post here is about bolting the old exhaust or doing minimal mods so the thing will meet the test and then returning it to illegal again?

Shutup.

Because beating the law is not illegal, breaking the law is.

Sick of everyone wanting to be a cop/nazi on this forum, there's one of you in every thread nowadays, if you disagree don't say anything, because you're jsut making a fool of yourself, if you want to follow the ten commandments macca's is hiring more security guards.
You're not a mod, report it (if it's even a problem) and move on.

STIFF,
if you dont like it then dont keep reading it,your free to look at any page or story you like ,go stir the pot somewhere else,by the way, even some cops hate the rediculous new laws we have to endure these last 10 years or so.

Changing the exhaust to stock is illegal? What happens after the test it is up to the person if they want to risk it again but not mine or anyone else's job to monitor this on a Forum, unless of course its a recommendation for an obvious illegal activity. Actually ..... the modified exhaust might have passed the test but to play it safe, it was swapped to the standard? So is it illegal to put the other untested one back on? Might never get EPA'ed again?

A mate of mine got a love letter from the EPA last January. A copper from Nagambie got his plate when driving towards him in the 80 k zone near the cemetery.

Kenworth T604, new mufflers on a C15 Cat.

He took it to a testing place in Preston and guess what? It passed.

Thanks Mr Plod for wasting everyone’s time.

Do you guys know about the bung in the turbo territories ?

Well simply apply the same practice , in your case mate block off one of your pipes with gasket material and have two holes drilled into it and bolted for security.. OR do it to BOTH pipes with an X cut in the centre of each flange gasket material.. gasses will be slowed and the sound much reduced.

Daz.

Thats the BS isnt it...you should be able to have some kind of claim atleast for lost earning while going through the process.

I know everyone changes back to stock, then modded again but still, the fact you can dob in willy nilly is a joke. Same goes for the cigarette butt thing..I dont smoke but unless I see someone do it in person Im not about to dob them in.

Its as if the laws are put in place so a citizen becomes a law enforcer..turning us against each other..crazy.

I think this thread has run along far enough. Nothing wrong with the subject matter but when people respond to each other the way some in this thread have then it has gone too far.
