Default When is enough REALLY enough

My names Brad and im a fordoholic.

I cannot see an old ford somewhere without wanting it and this is no exaggeration. If I find one I have to buy it and thats not the worse part. I cant seem to sell them Not that im asking to much for them. I just cant bring myself to do it.

I live in a country area and travel all around for work etc. The whole time im scouring paddocks looking for old tin, I even find different ways to go through towns just incase I catch a glimpse of something haha.

They dont even need to be in pristine condition. If theyre completely shagged and good only for parts I still get them. I usually only hunt for older stuff but if something late model comes up and I might be able to use something from it I snatch it up haha.

Im lucky I have an awesome partner who accepts my problem and my parents own a farm so the ruff "parts cars" that are to far gone or arnt worthwhile fixing are there. Then at my house I can securely store 7 cars under cover out of the weather (4 in the shed, 3 under the carport to the side of my house) and out of site which keeps the boss happy

At the moment at my house I have
my xy sedan
xp coupe
soon to have my xy panelvan back there once its painted
xl ute
xp wagon
xp parts car for my coupe
my brothers xr wagon
and my fathers xt sedan

on our farm i have
2 xb panelvans
2 xd sedans
an xe ute
an eb sedan
an ef sedan
even a damn telstar that i got given to me

and im just about to pick up another xl ute, another xp wagon and an xp sedan all for parts for the ones I mentioned above.

DO I HAVE A PROBLEM?? (besides running out of space at my house to store them undercover haha) or are there others in the same boat. None of them are going at the moment, but being 25 im sure to have enough time to get them happening haha.

Anyone else the same??

Hoarding tendencies ey, i reckon you should focus and put as much energy as you can into your favourites of the cars. It sounds as if you don't have that much of a connection to those cars, you just like owning them. Get that connection going!

haha I am very connected to the xp coupe, xy sedan and xy pano, they all have sentimental value.

the others I have simply because I really like them. They are all fairly neat, theyre complete and I love walking into my shed and seeing them sitting there. they need engine work, mechanicals etc but at least theyre in my shed and not still sitting in a paddock somewhere. I have a daughter now and always think surely I will have a couple of sons who will like old fords like their dad and when they have a licence in another 16yrs time what better car then a 62 falcon ute haha.

the ones at the farm wouldnt be worth a couple of hundred dollars and wouldnt be worthwhile to save (trust me ill save anything haha) BUT i know as soon as I sold them ide need something off them haha.

damn it I thought there would be alot more like me haha

Gut the ones that aren't worth it... and then sell the shells for scrap.

OP, if you had a mouse/snake problem due to the cars sitting around, the cars were attracting bad attention, you were spending more than you could afford on them or spent more time with your Fords than your family, then it would be fair to say you had a problem. As long as your collection doesn't get to the point where that is happening, then you're fine.

Hi my name is Guy and I am also a FORDoholic

I am 20 and have...

at our house:
-1996 EF Fairmont Ghia
-1984 XE Fairmont
-1986 XF S-pack

up the block (other bit of land with the shed on it):
-1987 XF Fairmont (given to my brother now)
-1967 XR Falcon 500 wagon
-1974 LH torana (mum calls it hers lol)
-1984 XE S-pack

at my mates property:
-1984 XE Fairmont Ghia (red)
-1984 XE Fairmont Ghia (silver)

No where near as many cars as others have but still pretty bad for a 20 year old.

I see no problem here at all...at least two enthusiasts own this many old fords, not some spiteful old man who keeps them out in the weather and won't ever sell because he's "going to do them up" at some point. These guys are usually one foot in the grave too...terrible.
Well done guys keep collecting the old girls, then donate me one!

Im just a caraholic.

Almost everyday I get on car point and other places looking at cars I want to buy.
I always end up finding one and then doing all the sums, looking up insurance costs and so forth.

I currently only have 1 car(which I don't want anymore) but If I had a house right now I would probably have 3 cars plus.
