Because the GT has the ability to be speced up it’s always going to be hard for some people to justify the GT-P .
For example. The HSV clubsport isn't available with leather (or so I am led to believe) That means you have to move up to R8 to get it. R8 then opens up options like bigger brakes that aren't available on the clubbie. The sound system is up graded seats and so on. With our mob the GT starts off in a pretty nice position. The stereo doesn’t' get any better neither does climate. You can option leather and previously you could order the biggest brakes from the GT-P. I reckon that is about to change but lets see first. What is left comes down to personal choice. HSV don’t allow the consumer to think too much about options, while FPV use a philosophy that if you want to up spec you will end up being just shy of the GT-P in price anyway and will give you small incremental things over the GT like the shape of the seats or an external change. In its life time the R8 has had the same sort of debate. AT one time it was a value package but as the clubbie picked up more and more it and its numbers dropped off. Like the GT-P when it was introduced, it did have exclusive features that couldn't be put in a GT. When those features did become available the numbers evened out. FPV don’t or haven’t yet offered different suspension tunes or adaptability. At some point they will. Not sure we will see it today, but the GT-P wasn’t in the photo shoot for some reason so perhaps it does have a more distinguishing look. I maintain that the GT represents the best buy by a long way in this segment. In this business that’s a pretty big advantage to be carrying to the starting block.

Jeeezus, do you really do that much research before buying a car? I only bought an FPV because I love the look of them and love driving them of course. You should be working for NASA not HSV. :hihi: Cheers, Danny

i do however think that the current FPV's in the future will be worth a lot more money than the current VZ HSV's, purely, because theres less of them. it seems that HSV are turning into a 'mass produced car', rather than limiting numbers. im not entirely sure on FPV's position at the moment but i would appreciate it if they were to bring back a LWB model to compete with the grange, it simply has no compeition, apart from european makes. |

The only problem is a LWB FPV probably wouldn’t sell enough to justify the cost of development.
Cheers, Danny

Best thing would be for them to cut the "My knobs bigger than yours" style power figures, and just make the bloody thing quick.

Actually the LWB was a TL 50. I’ll try and dig some pics up.
The FPV site still doesn’t have the new pics yet. I would have thought that they would post the pics up at the same time the Motor Show opens?

I think that might have been the plan but perhaps there is too many people.
We might be slowing it down too by trying it all the time or is that only me

I think a fully factory done 320kW 550Nm FPV with the 6spd auto would be ALOT faster then the DJR HP - Overpriced, fat, slow - 320 ever was. I mean hell, the XR8, GT, XR6 Turbo etc all stomped the DJR car. Only really worth buying if you were a Dick Johnson fan... and even then... bit of a stretch at $90k if you ask me. Ah well, I'm going to SMS on Sunday... and heading straight for the FPV stand

I think the fact that FPV doesn't have a LWB competitor just shows how limited they are.
While I think the basic ingredents for the GT are not bad (except not fast and focused enough) the rest are all wrong. GT-P imho is not what it should be, and neither is the F6 which standard according to the press is essentially no faster than a regular XR6T. Fords got problems too. Like what the hell is a LTD and what should it have over a 'Lane |

it will be good to see it in the flesh .looks better than a ba but not a lot. but the value of a gt is far better than a ba .
PS: i'm tipping the typhoon will kick **** over the gt with that 6 speed . the typhoon looks much better than the ba typhoon , and i think its presence and performance won't be understated this time . |

just saw a glimpse of the rear bar on the black gtp on the news and it looked as thought there is now mesh were the grey insert use to be.the insert is still there but it was cut out to look like ribs with the mesh inserted behind and the twin exhaust looked hot*drool*
