You sure you connected constant power to the right wire? Thats the only reason it wont hold memory (or the new deck is broken too) (yellow should be constant power).
edit: no memory aint that big of a deal. I had the opposite problem in my first car (had to remember to turn it off) and I lived with that for nearly a year.

Well if its wired right then its the deck.

What do you need memory for anyway? Youve already got a clock in the dash.

Ah didnt think of that, fair call.
Ive bought things for thousand of dollars that were dodge.
Can happen.
Maybe worth seeing if theres 12v on the constant wire.
If there isnt, run another wire,
If there is, try another deck.
Simple.

What are your connections like?
did you solder and tape/heat shrink them.

I had a mate whos h/u would turn off after a few minutes of turning on.
Turns out his soldering job was dodgy, i re did and it worked fine.

yeh just did that turns out someone got rid of the orig 12v wire and decided it was no needed.

then i found a 12v relay under my carpet with two wires going from it and into the dash but not connected any where.

refitted it all and bloody hell im stressed. but its working.

nobody should ever cut and tape if you don't use premade harnesses you should solder and heatshrink anything is a fire risk and just plain stupid

Should we close this thread? Problem solved a few posts ago.

Cut and tape is fine, IF you use the right thermal tape.

Solder and shrink is better.

Cut and crimp works well too.

I tend to cut, crimp, solder and heatshrink.

crimping is acceptable but far from optimal, just twisting the wires and taping them is unsafe and in the event of a fire the insurance can be wiped if they find evidence of this method with power wires ( speaker wires can be just twisted but you can get audio problems). A good solder joint is by far the best method
