hi,
I want to get to one of the wires to the ECU on my 5.4 V8 3v Falcon BA, but the connectors are under the ECU and the ECU appears to be riveted to it's bracket which is riveted to the body. Why? Anyway, what's the best way to get the ECU off its bracket? Thanks |

you dont need to remove the ecu just to remove the wiring loom. you can easily unclip the loom from the ecu and drag it out from under there.
if you still want to remove the ecu grab a hack saw and cut a line into the rivets (sheer bolts) and unscrew them. when your done get the sheer bolts from ford and tighten them up until the heads snap off. |

easier way to remove rivets is to get a drill bit just bigger that the center hole and drill slowly until the the top starts to spin. once this starts to happen grab a hole punch and give it a smack and the rivet will pop out.
trying to srew it wont work

thanks for your replies. I tried the slot method, but the bolt was in too tight to unscrew. However, I managed to remove the connector from under the ECU anyway.
