Anyone using a MSD7AL or MAS7AL-2 ignition??
I have borrowed a 7AL-2 to try at Heathcote on the 11th. will run my normal ignition, then swap to the MSD to see if there is any difference in performance. Only problem is the limiter chips are 6000, 6200, 6400 and 6600. I cross the line at 7000-7200 rpm. Firstly, What happens when you dont have a limiter chip installed? Will it just have no limiter, or will it not work at all? Secondly, If anyone has a 7000RPM or above chip and coming to Heathcote on the 11th, can I borrow it????? Naughts |

It will run fine without a chip, that was how I ran mine at the May meet we had last year. 7al-3 can be had for good $$$ stateside and have heaps of features.
I sold all my MSD gear a while back and went to a crane box. No chips left sorry mate. If you go MSD I still have an adjustable 3step for sale. PN 8735

Joe, can I use my existing electronic coil for a trial, or will the MSD damage it.
Just a oil filled Electronic coil it is. |

Yeah Naughts I think you should be fine. I have used a xe coil with a 6AL before today with zero issues. The BEST coil for race use is the MSD Pro Power coil with the 7series ignition.

I may go for a look on the 11 th but no racing, i wouldn't even know if the Capri would start any more as the water was up to the injector hat. I'd think everything will need rebuilding engine, diff, gearbox because when the water finally went down all the oil was on the concrete the water had filled the sump. I really need to do something one day as i have alot of money rusting away
