amazingly, it has been just 3 short years ago that Mike Moran ran the first ever 5-second pass by any turbo car. since then the turbo guys have slowly been chipping away at the times.
some amazing times were run by Melanie Troxel (R2B2/ProLine Corvette) and Brad Personett (Camaro) @ last weeks NHRA event at Englishtown. the ET and Top Speed records were reset, both ran a 5.772 @ over 258mph Personett 60': .966 330': 2.602 660': 3.844 @ 200.05 1/4 mile: 5.772 @ 258.07 Troxel 60' 1.009 330' 2.645 660' 3.868 @ 204.26 1/4 mile: 5.772 @ 258.37 what makes Melanie's pass an even bigger achievement is it was done with an automatic gearbox, the car runs a Rossler 3-speed TH210XHD which is the choice of alot of the big HP turbo cars. she backed the 5.77 up with 2 5.80 passes also. 2 years ago there was only 1 turbo car racing in Pro Mod, there is currently 6 or 7 cars racing now, by the end of this year there may be 10 turbo cars. no video of the 5.7 runs yet, but here is 1 of the 'Vette in testing and some of the qualifying runs at the event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26J_kjCizuw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSEwHumHzZo Last edited by prasac; 10-06-2011 at 02:50 PM. |
