Default misfire

when i start my xr6 on cold it has a slight miss untill it warms up. my mechanic told me the computer needed resetting which he did but did not fix the problem.its going back to him.has anyone had this problem. thanks.

My coil-packs are down the crapper at the moment. Mine misses under load though. I have more on order so I'm just waiting.

Coil-packs are a common problem in B-series but I haven't heard anything about AU's. Maybe just have a look for cracking or scaring on the coil.

Could be leaking injectors, they leak fuel into the cylinder while the car is turned off, then causing a missfire until it cleans the excess fuel out.

oh look its david lee, the guy who asks questions but never returns to shed light on what actually fixed his problem

this is a community not the racv mate

but to answer your question, it will likely be fuel or spark related
how many kays since your last plug/lead/coilpak/fuel filter change?
pcv valve rattle ok?
all vacuum lines seem to be connected?
how many kays on your xr6?

sorry mate i will fill u in when the problems fixed. it has 150000 ks everything was changed at 120000ks thanks

Could be TMap sensor in the manifold sort of under the TB. But doubtful - a miss is usually spark or fuel related. Annoying when the problem is so obvious but the solution can be one of several things.

An easy thing to check is the bolts on the inlet manifold - they tend to come loose, and let random air in causing a misfire type condition.

thanks its going to the mechanic tomorrow i will let u know what it was.its probably something simple yet so annoying

Take it out in the dark leave it running and look under the bonnet for any arcing from the HT leads.
Had the same problem on my 67 Mustang, easy fix if that's what it is.

Good advice you've been given.

Is your car on LPG by any chance?

If yes, then I'd say that 75% of backfiring issues can be sorted by plugs, leads or coil pack. If not those items, then you may be running lean on the LPG. If on LPG, then I'd change plugs and get an LPG tune each year.

thanks mate its not on lpg.ive just picked it up from my mechanic who has said not to run it on standard unleaded but run it on premium which has higher octane
