I think Ford tested those in Crown Victoria police cars...I seem to remember a small article in Popular Mechanics magazine some years back that said they were testing them for pursuit vehicles.

it might work in a pursuit vehicle, but i just don't think it'd have enough torque?

Herrod built a supercharged one years ago and put it into a Mustang as a burnout car. It was a bit of a flop from memory, not sure whatever happened to it either.

There was also a guy from a few years back putting one in an XG, pretty sure he was on here, also dont know what happened to it.
The one below is a 2valve, the one in the Ebay ad is a 3v, so it will be even wider.

It's a test engine from the upcoming Falcon GTHO - btw, it's not a Windsor engine.

It's built at the Windsor plant though isn't it? Bit like the Barra 220/230 i guess. It's just called a Triton as far as i can tell.

The sticker also says 1998?.. If its a test engine for the GTHO how long has the engine been in development?

As a performance engine they would make a good mooring......

For being almost 7 litres in capacity 620Nm isn't much considering the 5.4 puts out over 500Nm. Even the 3V 5.4 makes 500Nm.

the 6.8 is the same as the 5.4 with two added cylinders. 500Nm divided by 8, multiplied by 10 = 625. Seems about right to me. What is amazing though is the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 isn't that far behind it in power and torque.

Difference is the 5.4L makes its peak torque 1500rpm higher than the 6.8L

Not the 3V, its about the same. 220kw made peak torque (472Nm) at 3250rpm, and the 230kw (500Nm) at 3500rpm.

And look at the boosted offerings from the Germans (AMG, BMW, Audi etc). So much torque available nowadays

The old sprintex mustang with the V10 was for sale a few years ago, iirc it was pretty cheap considering how much it would have cost and it's heritage.

edit. this thing
