Default SEEK Learning - Anyone done a course?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with SEEK learning or has undergone (or knows of someone who has undergone) one of there online courses?

The course I'd like to do has closed for mid-year intake at all schools that offered it so I'm looking at the option of doing it via SEEK. That way I can start the course asap instead of waiting until 2012, gain a qualification and work at my own pace whilst also work full-time.

If anyone has any experience with SEEK learning or any other online course sites then I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Chris.

A uni course or a TAFE course?

Uni course I started out with Seek learning, got all the information I needed (from memory they go through Open Uni's still - it was a little while ago).

Staff at Seek learning were great though, very efficient and knew their stuff.

Have a look at Open...www.open.edu.au - they generally have a list of courses, next enrolment for them is August this year. You just have to bear in mind, Open run the whole year, and not in line with semesters, each unit is 12-13 weeks and the courses have a tendency to overlap with the previous units exams, so you have to be fairly organised.

It really does depend on what course you want to do as to which learning facility will be the best one for you

I'm looking at dropping out of my apprenticeship and doing a few certificates, but I want to do my schooling online, like i did for VCE IT Software Development.

I want to work my way up to get into an IT degree, would this be the right path to take?

TAFE course. Cert. IV in Financial Services (Accounting or Bookkeeping) is what I'm looking at studying.

You could give Open a go, they may do similar to 'bridging' courses...once again, not really sure how Seek do it anymore - but after going through them, I ended up at Open University. I know that they had accounting degree's there, but they were bachelor degrees as opposed to certificates.

Damo, you could give that a go...it all depends on how you learn, with most of the courses there is very limited contact with other students (aside from the discussion boards for the course), so being able to self motivate is a definite bonus...some people struggle with it, I did myself for a period of time until I 'got the hang of it'. Most courses are offered externally, so you can do them while you work, still maintaining an income and working towards a degree
