I think its safe to say most people here would consider me a complainer. I've never complained about my Golf GTI.

It. Just. Worked.

This very thing happened when i had a baII xr8, and all the xt's with gt kits started popping up, my car looked lame in comparison.
so car makers should make cars that can't be made to look better in the aftermarket?? i'm not sure what you're getting at there.

Exactly. This is what the FG XR8 is competing against.

I'll take a stab that both these images are official marketing images from each respected company. Looking at those images, Holden knows how to market their car, even in the most basic of images. So, not only do they have a much more exciting V8 model.. they sell it better too.

Still.. here's apples for apples.

its not just the photos, thats the difference in the flesh too, the holden just looks better unfortunantly, and the proof is in the sales.

It's sad not to have the XR8 in the line up.

The ve is a good lookin car but would not say a better looking car just differant and yes i would at 39000 bucks concider very seriously buying.
Would like to have more options other than mostly cosmetic.

On the whole base model look and the gt differance in the earlyer days with looks the differance was paint colour and badge (xr). Go forward to (XB) prob paint some stripes and coloured bumpers, wheels. Then (eb) you had a kit wheels prob colour. (el) body kit wheels probly colours again. (ba) kit again wheels and colours. (fg) same thing.
I am fine with these cars lookin similar ro each other.
We can compete with these imported cars easily. I doubt very much what is a base model car from say bmw to compete with xt falcon would be $43000.

Isnt the main reason for european car prices cause the import tax? Other wise we would be stuffed.
I think the xr8 has come along just nice from its beginings and should stay online kind of like buying a brand new older gt at a reduced price.

In your opinion...

On the street I think the XR8 and SS both look great, but the XR8 edges it in my opinion.

However in the pic above the SS looks hot and the XR8 looks not.

I think Holden just understand their demographics a little bit better when addressing things like marketing. They know that the SS, and even Sports V6 models are primarily aimed at the 25-40 male demographic.

While Ford seem to either lack the understanding or try to sit on the fence of who and which demographics they're building these cars for.

Take these commercials for each vehicle:

BF XR8 Ute:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kd2mMa0KqE

VE SS Ute :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEHFBfVGvrI

Holden, not only re-enforce the idea that the Commodore is Australia's most loved car, but sell it again, and again. In this case, sell it again, and again to the 25-40 male demographics appealing to said demographic again and again.

All the Falcon add tells me is that " blokes " like the XR8 Ute... yet don't tell me why.
