G'day folks. I Have just bought myself my First AU its a 2000 model Series II Forte with 210k which I got for 3k.
I was wondering do the door protector strips leave holes if you pull them off? if so how hard is it to paint them? I am also looking for some 17" alloys and slightly lowered coils (XR height) if anybody can help. |

Nice...
Door 'protector' strips do have locating holes behind them unfortunately... One thing to consider, is getting some BA/BF door moulds, as they will fit straight up... Painting is easy, just mask up around them, sand back with 800 grit wet and dry, then spray in light coats, slowly leading up to a nice, even finish...

welcome to the wonderful world of the AU. Despite what some say the AU is one of the most reliable falcons ever made ( just ask a taxi owner) xrghiawagons idea is worth the effort if you want to go that way. the BA moulds look great on an AU and they are a direct fit ( AU and BA doors are the same shape )
there are many members in this section with a wealth of knowledge and experience to guide you when the mod bug get to you

painting your door strips isn't a hassle. just rub them back slightly, use wax and grease remover, sand again, prime them and lay down your colour of choice. they key to it is patience, i bought another set from a wrecker to practice on and i was glad i did. but painting is not my speciality lol. i hope you enjoy the wonderful modded world that comes with owning an AU.

Its nothing to look at. Silver series two forte with the factory spoiler to reduce some roundness and black interior. WIll post pics when I get some wheels.
