Not really that much different from Honda, $80 for front wiper blades for a Civic.

Or Ford, $88 for a set of front wiper blades for my WS Fiesta.

That's if you go to the dealer. There are plenty of specialist French car mechanics around the place that do the same job for less.
As an example, the menu price service for the 100,000km minor service for my 307 wouldn't get me much change from $500 from the dealer. It cost me less than $200 from a Peugeot mechanic. It's the same no matter which marquee you buy, the dealers always charge more.

The other thing to consider with the PSA diesels is that their service intervals are longer at 20,000km (with a 10,000km free checkup in between), which basically makes the servicing costs the same over another car over a longer period of time.
Timing belts also don't have to be done until 180,000kms.

Id seriously look at one if I was looking at sedans.... Those going on about 'french quality', or lack thereof, must wear a blindfold, thick gloves and ear muffs when driving there Foulcan.

The 508 is another competitor out there, some people will like it and buy it but
those that think that any volume of Falcon or Commodore buyers will up and
leave for it are seriously overstating the impact of this latest Peugeot.
It's a nice car but it's not going to change Aussie car buying trends...

Ha! So true. It's why I get miffed at some of the stupidity thrown back and forth here. Because I know from daily first hand experience. 2 flagship Falc Utes, and a flagship Renault, have one guess which ones have more rattles, NVH and poorly fit and loose plastic bits?

I like it.... and after crashing head on at 120kmh into a toyota landcruiser in a Peugeot and walking away, I would prefer it to a Falcon / Commodore anyday.

Saying that, the resale value will be horrid !

Best get one when they are 12 months old

Be interesting to see how the 1.6 litre diesel goes in this car. It is a turbocharged version of the same motor in the fiesta and is also fitted to pug 207 and 307,s.... and Focus/Fiesta in Europe.

tell me more about this 120km/h head on accident. were you speeding or ovetaking? what pain did you feel, you seriously just walked away? how quick was the lancruiser travelling? which model peugeot was it?

The Fiesta's diesel is turbocharged too, same PSA engine family with perhaps slightly different output.

Large car sales have gone down in volume as Small and mid sized SUVs have increased,
IMO, Ford screwed the pooch by not staying on top of Territory and Ranger updates,
these are two very important growth sectors where Ford should be selling their heads off...
After all, Geoff Polites strategy was to following former station wagon owners into SUVs
and was more than a little emotional a few years back regarding the lack of a diesel Territory...

We all miss that great man of vision...

No different to a Falcon or Commodore then.

I've had a couple of 406s, one was a 5l/100km with the bullet proof turbo diesel. These were released in the mid 1990s and they handle and steer better than any coon or Commodore until the BA came out, about 8 years later.

Bubbles in the windcreen glass, (F6)

Loose trim around the seats, (Both)

Loose and squeaking door trim, (XR6T)

Rattles in the dashboard which I can't find, (Both)

Drivers door locked the key in the ignition last week due to some electrical fault, (XR6T)

Tail lights have blown a few times and Ford cannot find why. (XR6T)

Steering wheel buttons replaced and bluetooth system replaced (F6)

Take a look at quality issues with your own camp before having a go at other manufacturers.

Im my lifetime my family has owned no less than 15 or so Fords. EVERY SINGLE ONE has had required after sale dealer attention.

Compared to the Territory diesel that spat an engine bearing it's not too bad then

Well, if you don't value owner opinions, there's always the commercial warranty providers who have the practical experience of dealing with car faults on a daily basis:

(I must say I raised an eyebrow or two at Chevrolet in that list - perhaps there are only two of them in the UK and it warps the statistics!)

Not all that different from consumer feedback really. The French have been on a quality low for a few years (and the Germans to a lesser extent) but have been tackling the problem more recently and it seems to be picking up. Part of the solution has been outsourcing manufacture to countries other than their own where the ability to produce quality is higher, particularly Czech Republic and Slovakia.
