Default 2003 focus instrument cluster goes funny, wont start

Hello,
My mums focus is having some issues, every time i try to start it the instrument cluster goes all shaky in the dials, it's really odd, sometime things like the radio stays on after you take the key out even, other times the horn wont work properly, sometimes it will.. It was driving perfectly just after i drove it home from work, when i went to start it 20 mins later i experienced this issue.
heres a vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS5A2esFbno

Ive checked all the fuses and tried to run diagnostic check by holding the odometer reset but it doesn't work, battery has excellent voltage, i can hear the fuel being pressurised but no spark occurs, engine wont turn over in any case, just clicking from the starter.
Sorry I don't know much about these cars and thought someone might have some idea.
thanks

Can't be 100% sure but my guess would be the ignition barrel has bad contacts either that or you have an earthing problem. Try wriggling the key around in the ignition switch and see if you get constant flickering of lights and movement in the guage needles, if so the ignition switch is probably crook.

indeed it was the battery, thanks for your help. Surprised it didn't wan't to jump start at all, basically means your pretty screwed if your battery dies in an auto focus and don't have access to another battery. :S
