Default Ford to unveil four new cars at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but anyway here it is.

Ford to unveil four new cars at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

Quote:
Ford will unveil four new cars at next month’s 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. Ford hasn’t released many details of the cars but the company has provided a sneaky teaser shot within the invitation to build suspense.

The company is keeping tight wraps on info about what cars will be unveiled specifically. One of the cars, Ford says, will showcase “a major new design concept”. If the new design is in the teaser image above, we could expect to see a futuristic new front end incorporating those slimline front lights. Where it goes from there is anyone’s guess.

Another new car Ford is set to unveil is the new Ford Focus ST. The company has said it will unveil “details of the next Ford Focus performance car”. This doesn’t neccessarily mean the entire car will be on show but it’s a pretty good sign, especially as we’ve seen a large range of prototypes spied for a while now.

As far as we know, the 2012 Ford Focus ST is set to come with a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine producing 184kW of power and 360Nm of torque to the front wheels. The new sports Focus could be rebadged as a Focus XR5 when it arrives in Australia, like the previous model.

Other features to be on show at the 3200-square-metre Ford stand at Frankfurt include a 2800-square-metre drive track. This will be an interactive setup to demonstrate Ford’s new ‘Active City Stop’ and ‘Active Park Assist’ safety systems.

As usual, it is promising to be an exciting event. Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO of Ford Europe, said in a recent statement,

“Ford plans to make a strong statement at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with several very exciting global product reveals and our significantly expanded show stand.

“We’re excited to be showing customers our best-ever vehicle line-up and a special glimpse of the future.”

We look forward to providing all the coverage of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, starting on September 12.

In the meantime, what do you think the mysterious car in the teaser shot could be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The front end of that concept looks like one of the Mad Max cars from AIMS.

Keen to see the Focus ST prod model.
It won't swing me away from my XR5 with the 2.0 4 but my old man is looking at offloading his XR8 for the new XR5(4).

Would have to be a world preview of the Mustang. Looks like it from the outline anyway.

Doubtful it is the Mustang. The car in that image has a Ford badge on it and this is something the Mustang hasn't worn for years.

I didnt think Ford Oz would persist with re-naming the ST as XR in light of the whole One Ford strategy.

And I think it's for the best as the ST badge will have 'world credibility'

They have been rumoured to be working on a replacement for the Ford GT, but it won't be a retro remake of the original GT40 like the last one was.

That's the one thing that made me dismiss Mustang too. Plus Ford will more than likely unveil the new Muzzie at the Detroit Autoshow (not until Jan 2013 at least) and then they'd show it off around the world on the show circuit (if global Mustang rumours are indeed correct) throughout 2013...

I believe that the vehicle in the teaser is perhaps either the 'Capri' successor (concept for now I'd presume) or the new Mondeo/Fusion: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/spi...os-future_cars

(Note the polarising fish mouth like on the Focus ST 'concept'.)
