Well, gotta thank the guy that did this.
No note, nothing. I wonder how much insurance is gonna slug me? Which is helpful because I'm a student without much money. What makes it worse, is the paint on that was only 6 months old. |

Where was this? Was it any place with any sort of CCTV system that could have possibly caught this?

Happened near the Gawler Post office.
There probably is CCTV but getting my hands on it would be more hassle than it's worth. With any luck my old boss will repair it and let me do a couple of days work like I've done before. It hurts me the most because I've decided to keep this car and turn it into a budget build show/street car (more detail than bling). The car is bassically flawless in the paint work. |

Try getting the CCTV footage, if you tell them why they may be more helpful or run a million miles.
Talking through my rear, I imagine your insurance company in particular or a helpful local cop may be interested in seeing it. Make the mongrel answer for their actions. Good luck with it. |

That sucks. Don't let it get to you though, remain positive.
A couple of weeks ago a got too close to an E Class while reversing; the tow bar hit the number plate protector of the Merc and cracked it. I left my card but still no phone call. Meh, he's rich.

I did that the other day. Misjudged and put my towbar into the numberplate of a schmick BF XR6. Only the plate was slightly damaged, but I left my card anyway. They guy called me astonished that someone would actually own up to it. What a sad indictment on the local community.

Sorry to hear mate.
Your suggestion with your old boss sounds like the least painful way out of it.

You can tell insurance you backed into a pole. Single car accidental damage claims will only be your base excess (usually around $500-1000 max for a young person) plus a slight raise in your premium

Just spoke to the guy I bought the car off (his dad is my old boss). Gonna take it down on the weekend and he's gonna sort something out for me.
Gotta love having these guys as friends. Probably only gonna cost me some paint and a days worth of detailing cars. |
